Let love be
Skin on skin,
lips meeting lips,
hands graze flesh,
fingers twine in long silken hair.
She's in love,
knows she's found
"the one".
But people don't see,
just how right they are together,
because women belong with men,
not with each other.
They clasp hands and
face the ridicule with
strong faces
(it doesn't pay to show their weakness)
and tell each other
"Soon, it'll be okay."
Hands hold hands,
her smile brightens her lover's day.
They're in love
and condemed for it.
Hoping that time will change
and their wounds will heal,
and society will finally accept them.
But until then,
their love is enough.
It's enough to keep them strong.
A/N: This is dedicated to my friend Shannon, known as Koyu on this site. Uh, she's just been through a lot, and inspired me to write this poem :) Hopefully you guys like it.
