On the far away shores of Naraway Fae

live a simple, fair people who do dream by day

of another life, far, far away

away from the shores of Naraway Fae.

-

They stare at the city, on a distant shore

and think of a life they may have lived before

before they lost their shelter, before they were poor

and they had to take leave from that distant shore.

-

“Come with me,” cries a sailor to his lovely bride,

“Come and we’ll find a new place to hide

away from this obstinate, stubborn, lost pride.

Come with me,” cries the sailor from the deck to his bride.

-

“Come with you and find what?” asks the bride with disdain

“A saddened existence out there in the rain?

You don’t know if there’s happiness or if there’s pain.

What you’re asking is foolish,” states the bride with disdain.

-

“My dreams are at the mercy of wind,” he admits with a sigh,

“But with you beside me, I’ll always get by.

You said you’d love me forever, or was that just a lie?

You’re the star that I steer by,” he says with a sigh.

-

She weeps and she joins him, this obstinate girl,

her old life behind her as the white sails unfurl.

Leaving their safety for an uncertain world,

this young, wistful sailor and his obstinate girl.
