Chapter Eleven

The End

She is too powerful for her powers to be taken away. She just had a shock. I felt her cool cheeks. Her eye lids fluttered. She looked at me, her eyes changing from grey to blue.

“They’ve been doing this all week,” she muttered, “They keep making it stronger each time, the electrical current that is. They think that with a strong enough current you can remove powers so that even if you survive the shock you won’t have any powers,” she glanced at me her eyes smiling. Only Ellie could be okay with getting shocked. She turned and looked into the destroyed room. “I’m too powerful,” she froze the room and its contents, “You really did them in didn’t you?” she was looking at the four burly guards with two small holes in their neck each surrounded by blood.

I felt my body sink. It was relaxing and everything was getting clearer. I looked around. Everyone was crowding around Ellie and she was smiling. She hugged James. “How handy is it seeing everything that happens to me then Aimee?” Ellie whispered, Aimee looked at her shocked. I don’t think anyone else heard. I felt tired and I soon realised that I had been holding my breath. I gasp for air but it is too late. I faint. Only I could faint at a time like this.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Light filtered through the curtain and I glance at the people surrounding me.

“Finally!” whispered a voice, “I was starting to think that you would never wake up!” I look around me for the face to match the voice and there she was, Ellie, Ellie was safe. I sat up and looked at the window. It didn’t seem to glow in the way I was used to.

“Give her a chance Ellie it has only been a day!” laughed James. I felt something fly into me sending my flying.

“Katie! Katie! Thank God you woke up! Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to run that fast, but,” I looked at the girl helping me get up, I had forgotten how short she was, Aimee was so sweet. I laughed and she hugged me. I sat back down. I saw another much slower figure sit beside me and I felt his arm slip around my waist.

“So, how’s my Sleeping Beauty?” Simon breathed. I turned to him and smiled. Suddenly, another familiar figure came bounding into the room. It was Liam. His face brightened as he saw me. I rushed to him and held him tightly. He looked as if he thought I was dead.

“Oh Katie,” Liam hugged me, “You need to go outside the fresh air I mean it is just,” he gasped. I looked at him confused. I turned to the window and opened the curtains. I pushed open the stiff window. The sunlight blinded me, it warmed my face. I breathed. The air wove in and out of me with each breath. It was like a drug. I could taste the summer breeze. I smiled. I hadn’t breathed fresh air since I was four.

“I need to go outside,” I breathed. I looked around the now dark room. Liam smiled and took my hand. I was lead out of the door and down a dimly lit hallway. I was pushed through an open door and I was taken aback by its beauty. I breathed in the cool air and I looked up at the sky. Each cloud was caressed by a blue silk sheet. I looked at the green grass lay out before me. Excitement pulsed through me like white river rapids. Liam watched me and dragged me to the very top of a hill. I felt the natural wind brush my cheeks. It was amazing. I felt something tug at my arm. I turned to see everyone lying on the green grass. I ran to them and did the same. I filled the gap between Simon and Liam. I started at the sky, studying each curve and line.

“How much venom does it take to stun a were-wolf?” asked Aimee.

“About ten millimetres, why?” replied Adam.

“Because here’s one now,” Aimee whispered as she leapt from her position and landed on an unexpecting were-wolf that was about to pounce on Ellie. The were-wolf was out before it had a chance. Everyone stood up and scanned the surrounding area prepared for an attack.

“Why are they trying to attack us?” I mumbled to Simon.

“Because we saved Ellie, and we are trying to change the world,” he muttered back. A large group of were-wolves came out of the forest surrounding us. They were all about two years older than us and clearly well trained.

“Give up now,” shouted the tallest one, “We have you out numbered.”

“Oh, yeah,” yelled back Simon, “Not for long,” I felt him disappear from my side. I looked around and saw that Aimee and Adam were gone too. I saw the band approaching us crumble and more and more were struck by the three vampires.

“I’ll get the Ice Princess,” yelled a younger werewolf, who was immediately frozen on the spot.

“No you’re not,” Ellie smirked. I saw Simon look at me with fear twisted in his eyes. I felt a large force hurl me to the ground.

“Careful now, I will hurt her,” demanded a voice, I felt my body being dragged to my feet. I felt a large arm hold my neck and I couldn’t breathe. Fear swept through my eyes. I felt my head being wrenched backwards and my body collapsed onto the ground. Pain shot through my body. The arm slipped away from my neck. I felt four cold hands lift me. My body lay flat on the grass, my body wouldn’t move. My head was placed on Aimee’s lap. At least I could breathe.

“Katie. I am only going to stun you,” whispered Simon, I could hear disturbed footsteps near me.

“Is that really necessary?” asked Liam. I felt the pain flash across my face. Hopefully Liam saw it.

“It won’t hurt her, I promise,” whispered Simon.

“What if you inject too much?” worried Liam. I wished Simon would just bite me!

“I won’t inject too much,” continued Simon, “I won’t kill her, don’t worry,” Simon paused, “I won’t turn her either.” I felt Simon’s cold lips push against my neck. I felt his teeth sear my skin and I felt his venom sooth me.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I woke in an unfamiliar room, it was dark and musty, I could hear crashing and I could feel a small hand holding my shoulder down. I open my eyes. I sit up, the hand letting me. I sat next to the small figure and I soon saw that it was Aimee. I looked at the calendar resting on the side table. The twenty-seventh of June. The crashing gets louder.

“They’re fighting out there,” Aimee stated her cold hand stopping me from joining them, “The whole of the magical world is out there looking for us,” she sighed, “We are just going to have keep running, keep fighting, eventually it has to end. One way or . . .” she whispered, she became distant, “the other.”
