(The city has never looked as beautiful as it has the night I saw it with her)

The night wears on

Seconds seem forever

The city scene brightens up the sky

The lights take the place of stars

But it just doesn't feel right

Without the saving grace

There's nothing left here for me

Now she's gone and everything's dark again

This is my place

I belong

I'll never be the same

These marks are proof of that

If she could only see me now

What would she think of me then?

What would she say?

What's my excuse this time?

That I'm tired of running away?

That no matter how hard I try

I can never get away

She's the thing that kept me here

The only reason that I stayed

With her gone there's nothing left for me

Without her grace

Her pretty face

This place is dead to me

Or maybe I've got that reversed

Maybe I'm dead to it

It doesn't matter any ways

I'll be gone in a few days

I'd give anything to hear her voice

Just to see her face

In a few days...

If she could only see me now

What would she think of me then?

What would she say?

What's my excuse this time?

What's my excuse...
