Dragon Bond
Ch1 Crysal
"What’s going on, I thought you where kidding!" Jon said, walking back to the tree, and tried going back through. Auren opened his eyes, this time though, instead of all white, they where light blue.
"Why would I kid about something like this?" He asked, pulling Jon away from the tree.
"What is this place? Why can’t we get back through?"
"I already told you, it's Crysal, and I sealed the gate." The elf said, flicking the chain on his ear, turning to walk away slowly.
"Jon, come on. We should follow him so we don’t get lost... Or something attacks us." I suggested, putting a hand on his shoulder to get his attention.
We both turned in the direction Auren went, not expecting to see that he disappeared.
Jon, shrugging it off, looked down towards the edge of the water, followed shortly behind with lightly tapping Matthew’s shoulder. Matthew turned to see what the teen wanted.
“Look at that.” He said in slight amazement, pointing at the water. Matthew squinted; trying to see what he was pointing to but didn’t see anything. When his eyes hit the water he did not see it, at first not looking like much but a giant beaver shaped object swimming towards the shore, towards them.
“It looks like a big Platypus.” Jon said matter-of-factly with a smile, and then frowned, saying. “That’s not good, is it?”
“No, Jon, it’s not.” I said, the giant platypus was already out of the water and quickly heading towards us, shaking the ground every time its huge, ugly black, webbed feet hit the ground, its red eyes glowing fiercely. We both started backing up quickly, Jon falling over on the root of the big tree behind him, dragging me down along with me.
The platypus was just about on us, when I spotted something orange move off to the right, I looked over and saw nothing.
“I would get up if I where you.” I looked back ahead to see a long orange tail twitching in front of us. The platypus stopped, dead in its tracks, looking at the boy standing in its way. With a low growl, the beast charged for him, beak-like mouth wide open and drooling.
He backed up a couple steps towards us as we stood up, stopping directly in front of us.
And instead of doing what he said, my mind forced a question out, spur of the moment. "Who are you?"
"Name's Kio." I could hear the smile in his voice, but he never turned to look at us or anything, perfectly understandable in a moment like this.
"Don't just stand there like a couple of idiots! Go hide or something!" He ordered, not taking his gaze off the charging monster.
I nodded, pulling Jon along with me behind a tree, looking back around the trunk to see what was happening.
At first I didn't see the guy anywhere, I thought he ran away to leave us to get eaten. Just as I was about to give up hope, he landed on top of the Platypus's back and held onto it's fur.
It let out a loud, thunderous growl and shook, trying to get him off of it.
Not succeeding it rolled over, so it was laying on it's back, bringing Kio with it. He held onto the fur tightly, even as the platypus was ontop of him, being pulled up along with it as it rolled back onto it's feet.
Shaking his head quickly, he reached up with one hand, and pulled the sword out of it's sheath that was hidden behind his cape, holding the fur tighter with the other.
With one quick swipe, the blade of the sword connected with the back of the neck, unfortunately not doing any real damage. The monster platypus squealed, shaking it's body with tremendous force, knocking Kio off of it and on his back on the ground, and the sword was knocked out of his grasp and out of reach.
As he tried to reach for the sword, the platypus pinned both of his arms down with it's giant feet. But instead of freaking out like I am sure I would have done, he calmly closed his eyes, took a deep breath in and waited.
Bringing it's head close to his, it sniffed him. Opening his eyes, Kio exhaled the air he had been holding in the face of the platypus. This wasn't ordinary air either, this air was a very pale blue, almost white.
Crystals formed on the platypus's beak, it backed up away from Kio quickly. It's mouth was glued shut by the crystals, it was making horrible, pained noises. Kio got up and walked to his sword lying on the ground and picked it up.
Looking at the platypus, he gave it a sympathetic look before holding the sword up, with the blade pointing the sky just as the monster was coming in for an attack. The blade pierced through it's jaw and came out of the top of it's head.
With his eyes closed, Kio pulled the sword out of it and let it fall to the ground. He kneeled infront of it and leaned his head against it's forehead, stroking the fur on the side of it's face slowly.
Standing up Kio turned to us, a sad look on his face, and motioned for us to come out from behind the tree.
"I hate doing that." He stated quietly, looking back at the platypus when we where standing in front of him again.
Now that I was able to get a good look at him, he looked like he was younger than me and Jon, about fifteen. He had orange ears on the top of his head, tipped black, like his tail and hair, his eyes where a light blue.
"You shouldn't suddenly leave like that, Kio." Came a voice from behind us, we turned around to see a figure dressed in all black, with back length white hair and pointed ears that had about three piercings in each ear. He had a gentle smile on his face
