So this is for a final project for AP U.S. History. We have to answer the question What is and American, or What is America. let me know what you think of it and any changes you think i should make
We, the Vision
I have a dream,
sea to shining sea, said Lewis to Clark.
The gracious favor of Almighty God.
Our skin tone, multicolored,
red, white, and blue—
it shines in our eyes,
determination to defy
limits; to never surrender.
Together we stand; divided we fall.
Nothing in life worth living comes easy.
The struggle; sweat drips from calloused hands.
The young wearing old faces—
masks they can’t escape. Tired eyes, but they burn bright.
He whose labours and posterity will one day cause great changes.
Conceived in liberty.
An idea—wisps of fantasies
fixed in the mind. The shining stars
we wish upon at night. Fifty in all,
and oh so bright. Illuminating,
Protecting, Eternal.
That government of the people,
by the people, for the people, shall not perish.
No, liberty never dies.
Wings beat steady, carrying a thousand hopes,
soaring high among dreams. Untouchable,
the hunter lets out his cry.
Freedom, Freedom, and we rise.
whose heart is engraved the immortal.
The mystic chords of memory.
Remembrance; beacons, forging a new path—
outcome uncertain. Fathers,
leading the way. Fighters, defending
a vision, a cause, a way of life; we,
the product of blood, sweat, and tears.
We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.
We hold these truths to be self-evident:
What they did here, those who dared to dream,
shall never be forgotten; and that we, the vision,
shall serve to protect and turn none aside.
One Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
