Too Hard

I don’t know what to say

Or how to think

Or how to feel

I’m at a loss for which emotion to

pull out of the hat

I feel like crying and going into

the fetal position

I feel like screaming and calling

you an asshole.

For all that you put me through –

the love, the joy, the tears, the heartbreak

For all that you were and still are to me –

Beautiful, wonderful, geeky, human

For everything we were and everything

we could still be –

lovers, best friends, dreamers, romantics

For all that we may never be …

because it’s just too hard.
