"Remember that time Cassie and I woke you up in the middle of the night because we couldn't sleep?" Emma said, smiling up at Josh. "And how Bethy kissed you on a dare and then invited you to hang out with us?"

Beth laughed, pushing her soda back. "I remember that- you looked so confused."

Josh mock-frowned, crossing his arms. "What was I supposed to do? A random girl comes up to me, kisses me, and says I'm free to hang out with her and her friends at lunch! Can you blame me for being confused?"

"Nah, I guess not," Sasha commented, "but when I did it to Cameron, he kissed back."

The conversation drifted off, each person lost in their thoughts as it really began to sink in- they were all grown up and there wasn't any way to turn around.

"So..." Bethany said, looking at each person in turn; Josh, sitting opposite her, Emma, leaning on his shoulder, Cameron with his arm around a sniffly Sasha, and Cassie, who was the calmest of them all. "This is it, I guess."

"Yeah..." Cassie said, staring down at the napkin Beth was scrunching up. "The last time we'll see each other for a year." Sasha burst into sobs and latched onto Cameron, who closed his eyes and buried his head in her shoulder.

Sasha sobbed quietly for a few minutes, before visibly calming herself.

"Then...I propose a toast." Beth held up her soda. "To best friends."

Cassie held up hers. "To crazy nights."

Sasha swallowed, and held up her coffee. "To- to stupid boys."

"To stupider fights." Cameron said, "and not being smart enough to appologize."

"To going to Prom in a tux," Emma put in, her red-rimmed eyes brightening somewhat. "And seeing Fritz almost have a heart attack because of it."

"To proposing in the middle of English."

Sasha jabbed him, adding, "Yeah, to get out of the midterm."

"But I meant every word of it." Cameron replied, dropping a kiss on Sasha's head.

"To...to not giving up, no matter how badly we screwed up." Bethany said, clinking her glass against the others. "To pushing through, and being there for Sasha when she gave birth even though you, Cass, had to drive all night, and Josh had to sneak out of his grandparents house."

"To putting up with having my hand crushed!" Josh added, leaning over Emma to give Sasha a hug.

"To hearing Christine's crying-"

"-and to knowing you didn't give a damn how many fingers and toes she had, but rather knowing our baby was alive and healthy." Cameron said, meeting Sasha's eyes.

"To getting through highschool without killing somebody."

"To staying single despite our every attempt to the contrary." Cassie grinned at Emma's comment, sitting back.

"To..." Bethany stopped, thinking. A smile grew on her face, as she opened her mouth. "To ignoring our differences..."

"And remembering all the hard times-"

"And the good times."

"And being flexible and tough."

"And to fights that pulled us closer-"

"And to every damn thing that made us who we are."

"Cheers." Nobody really knew who said it, but as it was repeated by the rest, it really, really sank in- They were adults, ready as they ever would be to go out there, alone, and take on the world.
