Fairy Seasons: A Fairy’s Tears

By: Casey N.

She stood outside looking off into the distance, not thinking or feeling. Just standing and waiting. A light artic breeze ruffled her hair and though she was only in a thin dress, she did not stir. Tears forever were in her eyes, always threatening to spill over like a waterfall’s never ending stream of water.

Phairsion didn’t turn when she heard the door behind her open and close. A hand grabbed her shoulder trying desperately to turn her around. Giving up the hand slid away. A shadow fell beside hers as the figure came to stand beside her. She turned her head finally to see that the person next to her was her sister, Sharru. Sharru reached out and grasped her sister’s hand. The tears that had been threatening to spill over finally did coming freely, showing no signs of stopping. Phairsion collapsed into her sisters arms, her strength gone with the wind.

“I know, I know.” Sharru whispered lovingly in her ears, gently rubbing her back. Phairsion raised her head to look at her sister, only three more tears fell from her eyes—leaving their mark with six silver tear drop shaped scars.

Sharru took her by the shoulders and helped her back into their house. Phairsion tripped and fell along the way. She felt as light as a feather and as delicate as one. She noticed her sister’s powers didn’t seem to be as powerful.

They entered the house she laid Phairsion down on the couch and covered her in a blanket, she had began to tremble tremendously. Sharru quickly went to the back room and grabbed more. She put them over her slowly, Phairsion had fallen asleep. Sharru finally able to relax a little went to the kitchen, and put some water over the fire to boil. She was just about to sit on the chair when the door banged open and a strong gust of wind swirled around tossing the things that were in its way.

Sharru stood alert and at ready. Winter appeared in front of her. He looked purely evil, his sleek black hair pulled back with a ribbon and his snow white clothes were spotless. Even if you didn’t know him you would not be fooled by his outward appearance—his clear blue eyes gave away his black fire that raged within. She shrunk back in the chair trying to get as far from him as possible. But as she backed away he came all the closer.

He grabbed her by the waist pulling her closer—their chest were just a hair’s breath away. She placed both of her hands on his chest meaning to push but didn’t. He grinned slightly at her, he was wondering why she did not push him away as she usually did when he was this close. He was confused but pleasantly surprised at her.

“So, have you reconsidered my offer? You would make an interesting addition to my court.” His breath was slightly ragged. He loved the warmth of her hands on his chest.

“Of course not, my answer is the same as it was all the times before.” She took her hands off his chest and then put all the strength she had to push him back. He staggered back stunned, that was not what he had expected. But when was it ever?

She never acted like other people did when around him. They would swoon and stutter. No, she could control herself, her and that damn sister. He felt his anger boiling reaching a level it had never been before. He cursed them in his mind, wishing they would disappear. He wanted them though, by his side, two beauties forever with him.

She slapped him, hard. He felt his anger hit its peak and used all his strength to stop himself from grabbing her throat and brutally shake her. She raised her hand again to slap him. He was too quick and grabbed her wrist forcing it back to her.

“Would you really risk hmm… your sister’s health? I see the state she is in and it would not take much to obliterate her.” He bent his hand down and touched Phairsion’s soft navy blue hair. It felt cool and like silk to his hand. She quivered from his touch trying to move from the cold coming from him. Winter grasped her hair not letting her move.

His other side was heating up considerably and saw that Sharru was about to lose it and attack him again. He took his hand from her wrist and put it to her face. She screamed from the pain of it-- Phairsion had only gotten a taste of what he could do—Sharru though got the full force of it. He couldn’t stand her screaming so he took his hand from Phairsion’s hair and putting it over her mouth.

“Do you want to die today?” She shook her head. “Good because, I don’t want to kill you. Now stop the infernal screaming! And constrain yourself from attacking me or your sister will die instead of you!” His eyes blazed and teeth were clenched. He let go of her face and pushed her away, she banged her head against the wall.

Winter relaxed his stance a little. Phairsion woke up and stood up from the couch feeling her power smoldering inside of her. She started to touch every spot of bare skin he had. Winter felt the heat emanating from her fingertips scorching his hands, neck, face, and arms. He turned to face her, stunned. He had not felt such immense heat from anyone except Vanairy. He cringed the heat spreading itself through his body. Phairsion laughed, and it sounded perfect to him.

“You will not touch her. Why are you here?!” She spat the words in his. All the while grinning at the fear in his eyes.

“I have come to find a Queen. I have grown lonely. So I thought of your sister and all her stunning beauty.” He straightened up, the heat finally having subdued. He took a step towards her, unthinkingly she took a step back bumping into the wall.

“But I think you will do much better. It will be fun. You have much power and that is what a Queen needs.” He came up to her and placed both of his hands on either side of her head.

He looked into her deep violet eyes, she turned her head. He took one of his hands from the wall and grabbed her chin and turned it to him. He leaned close breathing heavily out of his mouth, fanning cool breath on her face, she cringed. She tried turning her head away again but he had a tight grip on her chin. He snaked his other arm around her small waist pulling her close. The heat from her was overwhelming. She carefully and slowly kissed his cheek lingering. He let go of her and grabbed his own face. Quick as lighting she escaped from her prison and raced to the door. He spun around, forgetting his burnt face, and grabbed her arm.

“You will come with me! Even if by force! I will not be defeated!”

Sharru opened her eyes and that was the last image she had of her sister. Caught in Winter’s grasp, unable to get away. She closed her eyes slipping into oblivion again.

Phairsion opened her eyes and noticed they were in a room made entirely of ice. She blinked a few times, she couldn’t believe that in a matter of seconds they had left her house and ended up here. Where is here? She wondered. She stopped gaping at the room and noticed that Winter was just a few feet to her left—sitting comfortably on a overstuffed chair. His eyes were closed and his chest rose slowly, his left hand rested at mouth his thumb absentmindedly rubbing in his chin. She felt a pang in her chest, she wanted to take his hand from his mouth and kiss his full lips. She shook her head trying to dispel the feeling. She took an uneven step towards him. He didn’t move, just continued to sit there. She took courage from that and came closer to him a little short of an arms length. She bent slightly by him, his lips transformed into a smile. She slapped him across the face. He hissed and opened his eyes to glare at her.

“I had every right to do that. One, you don’t treat a lady that way. And two, you should not have brung me here against my will.” She slapped him again and he did nothing to stop her or move out of the way.

He stood up and Phairsion surprised fell onto the floor with an thump. He reached down to help her up but she swatted his hand away. She sat there a pouting lip on her face. He laughed at her expression amazed that someone so powerful one moment could be helpless the next. He gave her his hand again and she was about to swat it but thought better of it and took hold of it.

“Thank-you.”She said once she was on her feet.

“It was no problem of mine. You should think about taking peoples help more often.”

“I don’t need anyones help. So you best think about that. And do not think that I am going to continue to be here with you. By the way where is here?” She looked around the room.

“You will stay here. You are in my castle. I will not tell you where it lies.” He walked to the door and opened it. “Don’t try leaving this room. I will send someone shortly to give you clothing instead of that skimpy dress you wear, which will do nothing here to protect you.” He slammed the door shut.

She went to the chair and sank down into it. She brought her head to her knees and began to cry hugging herself tightly. Everything she had been holding poured out. She wished she was back with her sister, at home sitting and enjoying a cup of tea.

Only a few minutes had passed when a knock came at the door. She lifted her face expecting Winter but instead a girl came in who looked to be about fifteen. She had short pixie hair that came to her chin and was a bright pink color.

In her arms she held a beautiful white gown. The gown must have been heavy because the girl tripped and almost fell but steadied herself at the last second. Phairsion got up from her chair to help the girl with the dress. She took it from her arms, and the girl instantly straightened up.

“Child, what is your name?” Phairsion asked the girl quietly.

“F-f-fareshay. The K-k-king ordered me to bring you your g-g-gown.” She stuttered while looking down at her feet.

“Well you can take it back to him. I do not wish to wear that dress or to be his Queen.”

“P-p-please wear the dress. I-I-it would make the king angry if you didn’t. A-a-also you will f-f-f-freeze if you don’t!” Fareshay trembled.

She did put on the dress with Fareshay’s help. Glancing in the mirror she did look like a winter fairy, and she hated the idea. Fareshay fonded over her saying that she looked like true royalty, a goddess. Phairsion loved how she looked even if it was like the very thing she loathed.

Food was delivered not long after and ravenous she ate every morsel. Fareshay stayed and kept her company and Phairsion was glad to not be alone.

Phairsion every once in a while suggested that Fareshay could leave and get back to work. Every time Fareshay declined the offer. Phairsion began to grow suspicious. She suspected Winter had something to do with it.

“Fareshay, why do you stay here with me? I know you must want do other things.” She looked in her eys to be able to tell if she was lying.

“To t-t-tell you the t-t-truth the K-k-king ordered me to watch you. To make s-s-sure you wouldn’t escape.” Fareshay lowered her head ashamed, she had grown to like the future Queen.

“I cannot blame you for following orders. Even I do my best not to anger the Winter.” Phairsion laughed remembering the incident from earlier that day. Fareshay looked grim hoping the Queen would not get herself into trouble.

They talked for hours finally relaxing around each other. Fareshay told of her jobs at the castle, about her family, and friends. In turn she wanted to know everything about Phairsion. Fareshay at the end of hearing what happened to her tightly hugged Phairison.

“Why are you hugging me?” Phairsion asked her. Fareshay’s body was not what she expected, instead of cold it was warm. Fareshay pulled back and dropped her arms, hurt. Phairsion lifted her chin, smiling.

“Do you know why I’m here?”She asked quietly.

“Yes…no. There is a legend, of one that is more powerful than all the season combined. Born into the wrong season she has to discover her true one, to gain her full power. I think Winter thinks that is you. I don’t know for sure though I am just a servant.” Fareshay had stopped stuttering, she had become comfortable.

“Oh…I guess that would explain why I’m here. I think I need to hear this legend. Will you tell me it?”

“I don’t know all of it. But I know someone who does. We can go and see him.”

A/N: A new story. Yet again. I really have faith in this one. Considering that it is about halfway written. This is not even a quarter of it. I started this back in November as Christmas presents for a few of my friends. I never finished it. I will be uploading what I have already written maybe either once a week or once a day. Then after that it will take me a while to get them out.

So review please! I need to know what you think.

I know the style is bad in this part. Trust me it gets way better.
