I know we speak constantly, but words are butterfly wings,

Vibrant, beautiful, true, but surely fleeting things.

We’ve shared laughter, a silver wish, throughout the passing days,

But despite its value, despite its worth, I find it never stays.

We’ve had tears, mere snowflakes upon a friend’s warm heart,

With the trust and love of friends, the sorrows quickly depart.

Our families are inlaid jewels, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies true,

Supporting us through childhood and as we start our lives anew.

So how then can I speak of gold, which our friendship must surely be?

It seems I must be silent there, and hope my heart you’ll see.
