The After

Aerial uplift: a draught of heavenly insertion
betrays you to the gods in a way you wanted
but never understood.

Astringent physicality removed,
bubbles of being burst in ascension.
Spiritually motivated feelings propel
you along, faith pays off in one way.

A sense of exalted extinction
overcomes the ghostly body -
you feel it like an amputated hand,
a futile hold on the carnal being.

Feeling vacated, senses astray:
knowledge of self falls back
to just mind-expansion. No dawn
or dusk, lacking sensual scents:
no knowledge of cloud-heaven.

Drifting words lose their meaning
And your last tangible thought
wonders where you are,
if not the after.
