Finish

Whatever I seem to do,
It’s just not good enough.
I bend over backwards
Just to try and make things right.
But time and time again, I fail.

I have a life.
One of my own.
And I can’t spend everyday trying to make you happy,
Just to try and stop the digs, the ones that get me
In such a painful place.

You may think you’re the only one who sees,
Forgetting I have eyes too.
But it’s easier if I say nothing,
It’s always been that way.
So I’ll just smile again.

I’ll never let you in.
So you’ll never see.
And I’ll never say it out loud.
So you’ll just have to guess.
This time, I’m finished.
