No Objections

--

“Annie please!” her mother begged, rushing after her daughter.

“How could you mom?! Why can’t I just be happy with someone?” Annie asked, turning around to stare at her mom. Her eyes were watering, her firsts were clenched, and she was shaking.

“Your father wanted me to! I can’t say no!” he mother tried to explain. Annie didn’t other listening to her mom, but instead turned her back to her and began to walk again.

“Annabelle! Listen to me!” her mother yelled and Annie turned to face her.

“Now, if you’re going to throw a fit, direct it at your father!” she yelled before marching off and leaving Annie to herself.

--

“Dad!” Annie yelled, pushing open his office door. Her father looked up at her briefly before returning his attention to the stack of papers on his desk.

“If it’s about that Kyle guy, I don’t have time for it now,” he said dully.

“His name was Bill!” Annie yelled.

“Bill, that’s a new one. Was he the one with his tongue pierced?” he asked.

“No, that was Joey and he was good kisser,” Annie explained.

“That, I did not need to know,” her father said, swallowing the baby barf he had just obtained.

“Well it’s called revenge for breaking up me and Bill,” Annie said, crossing her arms.

“Then my revenge is not allowing you to date anyone else until you meet him,” her father said and Annie gasped.

“First of all, I can date who I want, when I want and secondly, who the hell is him?” Annie asked.

“Annabelle, you will not speak that language. Your mother and I talked it over and we both agree you can no longer date,” her father said sternly.

“You can’t control me!” Annie yelled.

“I am the President and as both that and your father, I have every bit of control over you,” her father said smugly.

“Fine, I won’t date any more,” Annie said, crossing her fingers behind her back.

“Good, now go to your room and straighten up. You don’t want your husband-to-be coming over next month and find your room a mess,” her father said like it was a normal thing.

“I’m engaged?!” Annie yelled, pulling at her hair.

“Annabelle, don’t raise your voice in my office. It echoes off the walls,” her father said and Annie looked at him as if he was crazy.

“Are you mad?! Of course I’m going to yell! I just found out I’m getting married to somebody I don’t even know!” she cried, throwing her arms into the air.

“Talk to your mother about it, I have work to do,” her father said. Annie gave him one last glare before marching out of his office and heading down the hall.

“Mother!” she yelled. Annie heard glass shattering from a distance and then the sound of heals clicking madly as someone walked towards her on the marble floors.

“Annabelle! You made me drop a vase!” her mother said, walking over to her daughter. Her long, ocean blue dress trailed behind her and her brown curls bounced with the steps she took.

“I just found out I’m engaged!” Annie said and her mother’s emerald eyes widened. That was the one thing Annie had in common with her mother, Julie, the color of their eyes. Bright emerald green that shimmered in the light.

“What?” her mom asked.

“Don’t pretend you didn’t know about it! Dad said you helped him decide on not letting me date anymore!” Annie said, crossing her arms.

“I did agree on not letting you date, but only for a while because things were getting out of hand with you and boys! I would never want you to get married unless it was for love… especially at the age of 19! You still haven’t started having sex, marriage is way out of the picture,” her mother said.

“Actually…,” Annie started.

“You didn’t!” her mother yelled, holding where her heart was.

“Well, almost, but then you called for me,” Annie said, looking down at the ground.

“With who?” her mom asked.

“Joey,” Annie mumbled.

“Well that explains it all!” her mother said before laughing.

“You’re not mad at me?” Annie asked.

“You’re growing up Annie and I can’t keep you hidden in my shadow forever. Just make sure it’s with someone you love,” her mom said, weakly smiling down at her daughter.

“Thanks mom,” Annie said before giving her mother a hug.

“Now come one, lets go find out what’s going on with this engagement,” she said before her and Annie began to walk towards the office.

--

“Thomas! I do not want my daughter getting married to someone she doesn’t know or love and especially at the age of 19!” Julie exclaimed.

“Honey, the marriage won’t actually happen for another year or two. Ryan’s simply coming over to meet Annie so they can fall in love. Then, once they do, they can get married,” Thomas explained.

“What if they don’t fall in love? What then Thomas?” Julie asked, crossing her arms.

“Then I’ll have to force the marriage,” Thomas said and his wife gasped.

“Thomas! I will not have my only daughter forced into marriage if she doesn’t want it!” she exclaimed.

“Julie, if Annie does not marry Ryan, we could go to war. This is our only chance to make peace because Ryan is Commander Smith’s one and only son,” Thomas aid and Julie’s eyes went wide with fear.

“That’s who she’s marrying?” she asked.

“Yes which is why we have to make this marriage work or force it,” Thomas explained.

“Alright, I’ll explain it to Annie,” Julie said before leaving her husband’s study.

“Annie,” she said, stepping gout into the hall.

“I have to… don’t I?” Annie asked, looking at the emotion on her mother’s face.

“I’m so sorry, but it’s for the better good,” Julie tried to explain.

“Better good for me or for you?” Annie asked bitterly before turning from her mom and running down the hall.

--

“You’re getting married?” Annie’s friend, Elsa, yelled over the phone.

“Yeah, to some guy named Ryan Hawthorn,” Annie said, twirling her hair with her delicate fingers.

“You mean Commander Smith’s son?” Elsa cried.

“Yeah, is he important?” Annie asked, dropping the strand of straight black hair that was in her fingers.

“How can you not know him?! He’s like the heartthrob of like every girl and the person to envy for guys!” Elsa exclaimed.

“Heartthrob of every girl but us,” Annie corrected.

“Of course. I don’t need a man to be happy unlike you,” Elsa said.

“What do you mean?” Annie asked. Elsa sighed before saying,

“You have like a new boyfriend like every month!”

“I do not! Joey lasted for two!” Annie said.

“That’s only because he was a good kisser,” Elsa reminded her friend.

“I got to go now, my mom is calling me,” Annie lied. They exchanged their good byes before hanging up. Looking back at the phone, Annie sighed.

I just want to clear up now for anyone that’s seen this story already on fictionpress, but on the account of I Laugh at ur Pain, that it is my story. I Laugh at ur Pain was one of my friends on fanfiction when I started writing this story. I let her read my story and she said that I should put it on fictionpress, but I didn’t have an account. So I Laugh at ur Pain offered to post the story on her account just to advertise it before I actually got around to making my own account. In all honesty, it took a lot longer to make my own account than I thought, but this is my story.

So now that that is cleared up, I’m hoping that people who read this chapter on I Laugh at ur Pain’s account still enjoy it, and I hope that new readers enjoyed it as well.

Please review!
