Let’s get this straight right now. The only and I mean ONLY reason I’m writing in this journal is because it’s half of my English grade. And really, having a journal as an assignment is one of the most cliché things you can do in an English class. Supposedly, it’s to help me find myself, but I’m pretty sure I already know where I am. I’m in the middle of nowhere. That sounded cliché too, right? But it is the truth seeing as I live in Kansas. Let me get a few more things straight before I begin—I do not know Dorothy and Toto, nor do I know where they’re at. I do have electricity and I do own a car. Yes, there are Starbucks and malls and no we are not all redneck farmers that have a 5th grade education. Now that you know that, we can get on with my so-called “life story." Oh, and I’m supposed to address the journal as a person, so I now name you Bob.
Well Bob, I was born in Massachusetts on March 11, 1992. You can from there figure out how old I am. We moved when I was three to Kansas when my dad got orders. He’s in the army, or was anyways. I’m sandwiched between my older sister Giselle and my younger sister Sam. Giselle is a free spirit to say the least. She’s the type of girl who wastes too much time taking pictures and dreaming about moving to Italy. When she graduates this year, she claims she wants to move out of the country. Will she? Unless we win the lottery, it’s doubtful. My younger sister Sam is a total tomboy. She’s always hanging out with guys and watching football. Me, you ask? Well, you’ll find out in time, I’m sure of it. I’ll give you the basics though. My name is Joy and I’m a junior at R.E. High School. I’m not popular, but I’m not a totally nerd either. I got my friends and my iPod and that’s basically all I need to survive.
I guess I also have to talk about an event that happened to me today. After I parked my horse in the parking lot (Kidding, I didn’t ride my horse to school…I don’t even own a horse). After I parked my car in the school parking lot, I saw him. He’s gorgeous and makes me way in over my head. Distracted, I dropped all my papers as it was starting to rain. He saw me and gave me a quick smile as he made his way to my car. I felt my heart start to pound quicker. I was just about to say hi when… he walked right on by.
You didn’t believe me did you, Bob? I hope not, because that was a total lie. I’m not much of the romantic type. I’ve had guys ask me out before, but I’m just not into the whole “let’s say we love each other after one day and put pictures of us making out on Facebook!” kinda thing. But hey, you never know what will happen this year. You know what they say; things get a whole lot crazier once you’re an upperclassman. Actually, I don’t know what they say, but who knows?
Until then,
Joy.
P.S. I’ll come up with a different name besides Bob. Bob is rather lame.
A/N: Well, here ya go. I'm not sure exactly where this is going, but I plan on it being much better than DLS. haha. To those who read Dirty Little Secret, I'm updating tonight, don't worry! Plan on that story being over within in a few weeks-depending on how busy I am, which isn't really busy at all. Please, Please, review and tell me what you think! Oh, and the title may or may not be changing. It just happened to be a name of a song I was listening to on Itunes.
P.S. None of this is true, total fiction, except for the whole Kansas part. That is true, haha. I went off on a little rant right there.
