To Mr. Tixed

As I sit here

Waiting

Pleading

I saw it

The desk it stood

It picked up its legs

And walked out the door

Down the hall it went

And spent

A good while getting back

When it came back

It sat

With a grin on its face

And a shiny new plate

And a spic and spam shine

Its grin got bigger

Its once limp leg

Now strong and fixed

It must have went off to Mr. Tixed

That's what I thought

And oh ho, I was right

There Mr. Tixed stood

In happy delight

I found myself grinning

Thinking

It's a good thing

The desk did something

To fix its own problem

I smiled at that

And pushed on my hat

I went back

To sleeping

Trying

To hear my poor

Teacher speaking

While the desk

Sat smiling

While

It watched the tiles
