"Mamma mia, here I go again. My, my, how can I resist you"
Strains of the song followed Ella down the hall. She tried to ignore him, honestly she did, but her cheeks betrayed her by quickly matching her raspberry sweater. He was so funny! Lacking in sense, to be sure--the boy was singing his heart out in the school hallway for anyone to see! But, still...he was funny. And kind, and charming, and not a half-bad tenor... Oh, no, she was in trouble.
She refused to look at him, staring insistently ahead as she pretended the song was meant for someone else, but even so she knew his lively blue eyes were sparkling as he shouted the words of the Abba song to her retreating back. She liked his eyes.
He was watching, searching hopefully for a sign of--something, anything, a reason to hope. He saw the rising color in her cheeks, and the smile beginning to tug her lips into a curve, and he lept into the air with a triumphant yell. He didn't need a daisy to say to tell him she liked him back.
