They say to get my head out of the clouds and sky

but I just ignore them and heave yet another sigh

They want me to conform to their single-minded view

they try to take control of what I can and can not do

They want a perfect life for me

one they choose not a fantasy

But they still won’t open their eyes and see

that I don’t want their reality

Their views and desires form around me as bars

is it so wrong to wish upon the stars

They think to get off of the ground is just a silly dream

they wish to weigh me down with more important things

They never ask what path I wish to take

they never gave me a choice to make

I want something more

this can’t be what I am meant for

I want to fly free

to have a chance to shape my own destiny

So I’ll keep my head in the clouds up there

till there ready to listen and truly care
