Brave young men row upon row
To fight a war not their own they go
Thoughts of honour fill their minds
Not knowing the terror they’ll find
Once they arrive it’s a different story
Horrific pain, and death; no glory
When will man ever learn?
For a battle you should not yearn
War brings only suffering and strife
Does the soldier consider the friend, mother, wife?
They’ve gone away to fight and kill
Forgetting the meaning of free will
Say your prayers for the departed
War is not for the fainthearted
