Charlene ran through the death filled streets, trying to live. She was out of breath, her sides were cramping, and at the worst possible time, she was on her period.

Every time she stopped to rest, they found her.

She split up from her fiends because she knew that she’d just get them killed.

She stopped and slunk against a huge brick building, she tried to breathe. The sweat that poured from her forehead stung her eyes, but she ignored it.

One of the zombies came around the corner, headed straight for Charlene.

She screamed and fell backwards, scrambling away.

The zombies were everywhere, they were being drawn in by the smell of blood.

She stopped in the middle of the street and dropped to her knees, giving up. She was just to tired to keep moving, and she knew it was futile.

She curled up into a fetal position and started singing a soft song. The zombies were almost on her when it sounded as if there were hundreds of explosions.

Coagulated blood and brain matter flew through the air and landed around her.

Someone had come to her rescue.

All the zombies dropped, making sick noises when their rotting flesh came into contact with the ground.

She snapped her head up to see who her savior was, but she was surprised to see no one.

She jumped up and looked around. Downtown was nearly completely destroyed, thick smoke cast and eerie brownish-black light onto everything.

She took off running down a side street and saw a lone man, not a zombie, running.

She ran faster to catch up with him, but he seemed to get farther and farther away with each step she took.

Something in the corner of her eye made her spin around as a truck slammed head on into her.

“Noo!” She screamed and sat up in her bed, shaking. She looked top her alarm clock and pushed the snooze button and walked to the bathroom and got dressed for school.

Waking up from a nightmare was never a way to start the morning.
