Apathy is someone you always knew as a child but never really thought about, that girl down the street with the long black hair and the cold eyes that was frightening and comforting at the same time. Maybe sometimes you sit back and wonder what happened to that girl you used to know, but never long enough to let her image consume you.

Now, it seems she wanders the city streets, aimlessly walking upon the pavement with those gray eyes and heavy, black boots. Her parents, Fear and Anger, share the eyes of many strangers she encounters, yet she continues to walk alone, opposite the direction of traffic and independent of her own mind. Vanity and Misunderstanding follow behind her on occasion, but they cannot compare to the grace of her shadow as she tiptoes along the sidewalk, throwing careless glares at those that catch her eye.

And those who get close enough can hear her whisper: “One day, I will die, but not before I live again.”
