The Colour of Red

by

Little Black Piano

--

A scene of red

Cloaks my eyes

Raining down

From heavens skies

Battles raged

Men go down

Till there were no

Lights nor sound

We held our heads

Raised our guns

“For honour and freedom”

We shout then run

They take my friend

Down next to me

They take my voice

Then my sanity

To the ground I fall

My shirt bloodstained

Tasting war

One Autumn Day

Thoughts of love

Filled my head

My wife, my child

That picket fence

News will come

Followed by tears

I cry that night

I cry for fear

I see the light

Of heavens gates

It takes me home

It seals my fate

A scene of red

Cloaks my eyes

Raining down

From heavens skies
