Brandon

Brandon went into the boy’s locker room, and began to change. He was thinking about how she said that she didn’t notice him. He knew she didn’t, but for some reason, he just thought that she might have noticed him, at least once during the year, I mean, it was almost mid-term exams, and she never noticed him, not once. He was almost done putting everything back into his locker and book bag, when John came up to him. John had PE after lunch, and obviously someone told him that she talked to Brandon, so here it is, the usual “don’t mess with my girl” crap that all macho guys do.

“Hey man, did you talk to Crystal in class just now?”

“Yeah, what about it? She came up to me and talked, so I talked back. No big deal.” He said, putting his book bag on his back, trying to show that he was leaving.

“No one talks to my girl without permission, ok geek?” John said, shoving things into his locker, including his book bag. All of his buddies weren’t there so he wasn’t as “strong” as he usually was. Brandon rushed out of there, right before John’s little gang went in, to avoid being beat up again, (that’s all he needed right now). Brandon guessed they all put their things into the lockers then go eat and come back next period.

He began walking to the lunch room, which was always crowded, and he thought that maybe he might get there in time to get a decent meal today, because if you were in the end of the line, you didn’t get much.

Crystal

Crystal was sitting with her friends, eating lunch, when she noticed Brandon in the lunch line. He was towards the back, and he still had his book bag on his back, so she thought maybe he was going to sit outside. She thought about inviting him to sit at the table. After a few minutes, he walked by and John tripped him. He almost lost his balance, but caught it before completely falling. Then John stood up, about to push him over, but Crystal told him to stop. He laughed and said why. Then, the aggravation building up, she barked loudly at him, “Stop it, John!”

Startled, John sat back down, while the entire cafeteria “ooo”-ed itself to a silence, then everyone went back to their own business. Crystal had already stood up, and grabbed her food to go outside with Brandon, since she felt that she should go with him. She glanced at Lizzie, to come with her, and Lizzie shook her head in embarrassment for Crystal, and continued eating silently. Crystal picked up her books, and followed Brandon outside, him not knowing that she was right behind him.

She saw him sit at the second table to the left and followed him. He had sat down and began eating quickly, and Crystal placed her trey next to him. “Hey, you know it’s not too good to eat so fast.” Crystal half-laughed. Startled he looked up and gave a quick, small smile then he took something out his bag as she sat down next to him.
