Was it really just mere seconds?
It seems like ages ago
I don't remember
I can't remember

Oh how I wish for past innocence
After all
being clumsy on our feet always kept us on our toes

What happened to us?
We used to be so admirable
Now we're just beautiful
cynical

We sing the same songs
But with skewed perceptions
And malicious intent
(Quick, my darling, asleep
fall
Let me wake you with a (poison) kiss)

And our tables will keep spinning
Borrowed and broken
Marked with afterthought and boredom
Filled the bittersweet remains of thumb-tacked tissue paper
(Like the things we call hearts
And the words we call nothings.)
