Why Do Nice Guys Finish Last?

By Emma Peterson

I’ve seen a good man fall

I’ve seen a grown man cry

I’ve seen a beau have it all

I’ve seen a boy lie

The good man fell

Because she cheated

Tore his heart out

Left him defeated

The grown man cried

For months on end

Just wishing he had died

His heart won’t mend

The beau thought he knew

Thought he had it all

Though he really had few

He felt so tall

The boy had to lie

He’d say he was ’kay

With a tear in his eye

Dragging through the day

This man was good

This man was sweet

He’d give her the world

Lay out at her feet

Instead she raised that foot

And kicked him away

To go to a man

She thought looked better that day

Girls you need to realize

When you have a good man

To thank the Lord above

For your biggest fan

Yes, there’s more than one

Who might deserve you

But you’ll be alone

After every woo

Okay so I pretty much wrote this because honestly I feel that a lot of women are taking the "empowerment" movement too far. It is not empowerment when you rip somebody's heart out. It's not empowerment when you chew them up and spit them out. We wanted equal rights but instead of rising above and leading by example we are instead treating the men how they use to treat us. (Yes, I know from personal experience that some men still do this - but shouldn't we be better by not acting like they did before?). If a man treats a woman this way, he's an abuser or worse, but when a woman acts this way, she's considered "empowered." Well if that's what "empowered" means in this day and age then I'd rather be "weak." I'd rather thank my husband for loving me as much he thanks me for loving him.
