Read this to music
I have a feeling I'll be here forever,
Lonely and unable, unwilling to sleep.
Drowning in my mind's own thoughts.
At the end I'll bind the darkness, line it up,
And stick it on a page to encourage you.
It's not perfect like I want it to be:
So please, read this to music.
Life's been tough, not much fun.
Fun's the word, what's it worth?
Free as the air you breathe, and yet
This world never could, never will
Have something else worth as much as your smile.
You are precious to me and others,
So smile to the music.
This is the night that matters,
Close your eyes if you can't see it yet.
Nothing can erase the stars,
When your mind's eye remembers them.
They'll shine on you whenever they can.
You will never be truly alone:
You'll always have the music.
So drink my joy and make it your own.
Grasp the smile behind the veil.
Look the sadness in the eye
Thrust your melancholy under these words,
It won't haunt you anymore.
You don't have to feel it now,
It's kept there by the music.
All I wanted to pass on to you,
I've written here at last, and it sort of rhymes!
Took me long enough to see it.
Smile again if I've got it right,
Be happy and I'll have won tonight,
You are why I could write something like this:
I'm writing it to music.
Life's not short, and yeah, it's not fair.
But it's good, and I want you to know that right now.
So breathe deep, look up at the stars.
You are free and safe and loved.
You are beautiful when you smile.
Take out my words as many times as it takes,
And read this to music.
