AN: Sorry about the delay. I reworked the whole story. It’s still a work of progress. I hope you like the new version! -Ligeia

It would have been unclear to anyone who might have been paying attention if she spotted him first or visa versa, but either way, something happened.

She impressed him from afar. She was tall. About six foot in the heels she wore--black, strappy and seductive. Her dress clung tightly to her body. It almost looked like it was painted over every curve. Her hair was black and curled wildly around her face and shoulders. and ah! Her face! A high forehead sloped gracefully over huge green eyes, a narrow, almost Grecian nose, sharp cheek bones and a full, pouty mouth. She couldn't have been more than twenty, if that.

He was, on the other hand, decidedly average. If it wasn’t for his height, he almost would’ve been unremarkable. But men aren’t usually born over six and a half feet tall. He’d dark curly hair and dark colored eyes and was gnawing on a cigar. He watched her closely as she cleared tables. Their eyes locked and he smiled at her, a wide grin that hinted to things she could not have known in her short lifetime. He was, after all, much older than her. Fifteen years, as far as she could tell from this distance.

She collected her tip off the table and shoved it in her pocket as he made his way over. My god, he was tall! He breezed up to her wordlessly and slipped a business card under a wine glass on the empty table next to her.

Her heart fluttered. She snatched up the card and run outside to ask him something--anything--but he was already lost in the flurry of New York snow.
