Roxy

it's only been two weeks and she's already fallen into a nightly routine. she spend her hours laying on her bed and riding the ride after dusk and well into the night. she's got a new best friend, called roxy, and she finds she can confide everything to the invisible companion. together, they spin and twist and float until she bumps the ceiling. she's learned all the cracks in her wall and memorized the rough feeling of the plaster. her skin tingles, she's so warm and no longer sleeps with a blanket or freezes in seventy degree weather.

one month later and she sneaks out every night and takes the family van and spends all her savings on just three pills, she needs roxy so bad. she never thought 300 dollars would make her feel so good, but she's glad it does.

it's been almost two months since she's seen her boyfriend and almost a month since they last talked. if she remembers dates correctly, she missed their one-year anniversary and ignored all of his calls. but she doesn't feel bad because she has roxy and roxy makes her feel better than her boyfriend ever could have. so she doesn't care and finally after two more months, she sends him a text. she doesn't want to go out with him anymore, so why should she?

after his reply text, she turns off her phone and laughs at the vibrations and lays down on her bed again. she says, "roxy, it's just you and me." and she takes it all in at once, tasting the dust in the back of her throat.

sometime during the night, she feels warm and curls up on her pillow.

she never got to say goodbye.

a/n: we watched it all.
