I know where my love lays
but when will my lyric cease
to the curve of your letters
when will I learn this language
this caress on a page
without the addition of your memory
to everything I try to write
every time I try to write

you send mail like a prisoner
unpredictable
sometimes irrational
randomly call like it was the only time
you had next to a phone

how you must secretly adore
the contrasts you force on your own life
I know you must think it's all so complex
tortured soul, torn heart

but it's simple now
I see through the strings
