6/26/08: To readers new and old... This is Version 2 of this story that's been on FP for 4 years. Wow. I finally began to rewrite it because I have grown as a writer, and the story's dear to me. I apologize for the many disappointments over the years, but I feel that this version will be much stronger than the old one. This version is dedicated to Casey Drake and Asha for sticking by my stories for so long. Also, thank you to Casey, Tally, and Asha for helping me out with editing.

Princess of Fire

Prologue- In the Beginning...

Imagine a world with two races. Two races that despised each other. But why? No one really knew how it began, as the peaceful world of Fliel had thrived for thousands of years.

A new race was born in Fliel. Some say that it was a result of Magic gone wrong. Others believe that they came from an unknown world somewhere in the Great Beyond. Whatever the reason, they were now here.

They resembled one of their own number, but with strange differences- feline ears protruding from the tops of their heads and feline tails. They wondered if the changes were caused by Magic as well. Furthermore, it appeared that they did not possess Magical powers either.

But alas, the two races were destined to fight.

Somehow, we were thrown into another world. We had no idea how we got there. After exploring, however, we fell in love with the blue sky, brown earth, and green wind.

Then we discovered them.

Green hair, pointed ears, and wings- wings that they could fly with. How bizarre.

We grew angry because they were hostile towards us, and refused to associate with us. We became fed up.

Thus, our mutual feelings led to the declaration of war.

The battles were bloody and gruesome, with many deaths on both sides. When the fighting reached its peak, we hemmed them in until their only refuge was a single forest. A blockade was constructed, and it was over. We inhabited the land freely, and named our new home.

Fliel became Felinia.
