A/N: OK, so please bare with me on this. I started this story a long time ago...and back then I wasn't in tune with the flow of writing so I'm editing...which is hard...so if I miss something, or something doesn't sound right please tell me...nicely. I accept constructive criticism.

Prologue: History lesson
Centuries ago, there was a Roman warrior named Marius who moved to what is now Romania for unknown reasons.
He met and fell in love with a Romanian vampire named Afina. In that time, there were rules that stated no vampire was to fall for any human romantically.
The penalty: Death.
He didn't know she was a vampire until the day he asked her to marry him. She broke down and she revealed her secret. When he showed that he didn't care about her origins, she agreed despite the consequences.
They distanced themselves from both the human and vampire societies in order to stay away from judgment. Oddly enough they weren’t bothered by either for quite some time, totally oblivious to the fact that Afina‘s father knew of the ordeal.
On the night of the wedding, the vampires came and captured the bride.
Marius searched desperately for his love only to find her in the woods dead. He held her in his arms, weeping loudly until she turned into dust, only to float away with the wind.
It broke his heart.
He vowed, on that night, to kill all vampires, just as they did his newlywed, even if it cost him his life.
He went on a rampage, killing every unsuspecting blood sucking demon on sight.
When he decided to marry again, he made his objective quite clear to his fiancé, stating that if she wasn’t willing to help him, or at least accept his lifestyle, that the marriage was off. She agreed to help him without any hesitation. Luciana had her own deep hatred towards the vampires (a vampire killed her mother), so nothing would make her happier.
Together they were great fighters and managed to kill quite a few vampires. They even went as far as to train their children to be vampire hunters. Thus beginning the bloody, gruesome war between the Verdelli family, and the Vampires for then and for centuries to come. It was all simply a blood thirsty (no pun intended) attempt to wipe out one another.
Every Vampire against any Verdelli and vice versa.
Any person who fell in love with a Verdelli or became a vampire was destined to fight or die.
