She rolled her eyes, a huge puff of air escaping her mouth as if she could not believe he was saying such a thing to her.

“You are” he persisted. He brought his hand up to her cheek and caressed gradually, the soft circles sending bolts of shiver down her spin. Meeting his eyes she could see a soft passion that was equally intense, reassuring her that he was not jesting.

“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen…” he paused trying to find words that could describe exactly what he saw in front of him, “you…you’re like the sun as it sets, like water when the moon shines upon it, like the sweet grass after a cool rain, like…like”

She shook her head in disagreement.

“You’re the only one that seems to think so” she said sardonically.

At first he scolded her, but then a radiant grin formed on his lips, his eyes looking at her hungrily.

“That’s for the best, sweet. The fewer guys that see your true beauty the less I have to kill to keep you.”
