Till Death Due Us Part

I grew up with things most people couldn't comprehend. I was born in a world people didn't know existed anymore. My people were out casts from the government. Over the years the government said being unique caused chaos, and resulted in every one in the world to have brown hair and eyes. Genetics were tampered with to create the same characteristics…but some how few people's genetics refused the ID strand. We were some DNA mistake to them and were killed off. But those who did survive went into hiding and started a new life. Our clan was approximately 2,000 people but the people lost was double our number.

We all lived in a building deep under ground in the Sahara Desert. We were the only living UN-humans left there were others also but they were all killed. UN-humans had the same characteristics: Straight black hair, Ice blue eyes, Height ranges from 6'- 8'1 feet, extraordinary fighting skills, and breeding of animals that many thought were extinct. That was a past time for many of the people seeing, it was mostly scientists with the genetic rebound . We made sure to keep our population under control and our life secret. There were few in the outer world that new where we were, and those people were the ones who would supply our civilization with resources like: food, water, and other items we would need. For the most part we lived a normal life. Lack of sun made all our skins pale. Though my eyes it made every one beautiful….I was 3 then…I lived with my father and younger brother…my mother was killed by the government. I didn't have any friends yet, but I had a locket of my mothers. It was silver with a key hole on the front, On the back it said: We live to die and die to live. Our hearts lead our paths and our paths connect our destines. Follow it to find the key to your future. I haven't found the key to open the locket so I don't know what's inside. My brother had a similar one but it was my fathers and it had pictures of me, my father, and mother in it. It didn't have a lock but every thing else was the same.

I was 10 and it was the year 2998, when the people in charge of our resources discovered the bounty on us the government had set up when we first went into hiding, the people were mostly relatives of UN-humans, but some one of them got tired of helping and got greedy. They told them where we were, and they came flooding in through every door. My father hid my brother and I in our apartment, both in different places.

Out side of the box I was in I could hear gun shots and yells. I stayed in the box for a whole day before coming out. I was scared. I found my father dead along with every one of my clan. Except my brother was missing. He was only 2… I knew they had taken him. Upon the death of every one I knew and loved I would get my brother back…. And get revenge…..

It was 10 years later when they announced on TV that they had a UN-human and were using his genetics to create a medication that would give soldiers the same talents. They had him in a lab some where in Hong Kong. I was in New York. I came there when I was 14, seeing how it was the gossip capital of the world for high company people. I got a job in a local club. It paid well, but not enough, I would get harassed every night, only because I was a 20 year old female, and it was the year 3008. Usually women my age would have been raped or kidnapped at least once in there life… American wasn't safe anymore. I tried my best not to get too much notice, seeing how my people were on bounty. I saved my money over the years got me a ticket to Hong Kong. Now all I needed to find was where the lab was. I couldn't get a hotel room because the face scanners would know I was an UN-human. The only places left that didn't allow the technology of today was Buddhist temples in the mountains. Over the years the technology ran wild and every thing was computer operated. You hardly needed to carry anything anymore you just went up to a scanner and your whole house was at your access. I've often seen people sitting on the side of the street in lazy boy chairs they digitized from their home only to have them selves at gun point and it stolen.

The temple seemed unharmed by the passing years though. Everything was the same as it was thousands of years ago. I was welcomed by the head priest there with much hospitality.

"Welcome... we are grateful that some one of your unique blood would honor our temple." His kind eyes gleamed with kindness that mimicked his smile.

I was about to ask him what he was talking about when he interrupted me, "Do not worry child I know of your heritage, others like you have come also to help retrieve the one imprisoned. We will not bother telling the outer world that you are here… you are welcome in this land." He bowed and motioned for me to follow.

I believed what the priest said, Buddhist's where known for their peace and warmness toward others. But the others of which he spoke of made me wonder of whom else wanted to free my brother…..friend or foe….

He took me to a small room that had only a bed mirror and dresser. The window showed the garden out side that the monks spent years work on. He told me that the bathroom was down the hall when needed. I bowed to him in thanks and he left. I placed my clothing in the dresser and my weapon cases under the bed, dresser, and behind the mirror. Before I left to the bathroom I looked around the room, you couldn't even tell they were there. I walked down the hall to the bathroom. I walked into the changing room and took off my clothes, no one was around oddly, the monks were probably praying right now. I wrapped my towel around my body and made sure it wouldn't fall off. My feet walking a cross the cold stone floor, I made my way into the female hot springs. When I opened the door there was already a girl in there as I walked closer I could see her red hair perfectly clear though the steamy room. It shocked me. No one had red hair any more, that characteristic gene died 300 years ago and hair die was forbidden seeing it caused skin cancer and the government wouldn't allow it. I walked over and slowly got into the hot water. The hot spring was like a giant bathtub, tiles every where and cabinets. Which I assumed was full of bath gels and shampoos. The girl ignored me and continued to wash her legs. I guessed she was around 10 or 12. She glanced up at he and I could see her yellow cat eyes lock with mine. She took a sharp breath when she saw my eyes.

"You're a Enigma!"

"Where did you hear that?" I asked. There were other UN-humans like my clan with different characteristics so they all have their clans names. Mine happened to be Enigma.

"Don't worry.. I'm a Nekoform. I didn't know there was 2 Enigma's left!" She excitedly moved closer to me.

Nekoform's were a type of UN-human, ones that speacialized in technology. It was the Nekoforms that practically made the world how it is today. All digital and what not.

"How do you know there are two?" I asked suspiciously, this young girl seemed to know a little too much for her age.

"Word of mouth. Me and my friends are trying to save the one in the lab some where here in Hong Kong. Would you like to meet them?" She smiled at me. Some how I said yes to the ecstatic girl and we walked back into the locker room to get dressed. I hardly had time to get my shirt on before she grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door and down the hall.

"By the way" She said turning her head toward me and she lead me, "My name is Jennifer what's yours?"

"Sara" I said simply

She smiled and stopped in front of a door and opened it. It lead to the garden that I was able to see earlier through my window.

Instantly a voice yelled out, "Jay-Jay!"

A small child stumbled toward the red head and attached him self to her leg.

The child couldn't haven't been older then 3, and with his black/brown hair I instantly knew he was a Plantaeon. Plantaeon's did plants, they were the healers of the UN-humans. The child's eyes locked with mine and his purple eyes sparled when he saw me.

"ooooh!" he gasped.

"Sara, this is Tomas, but we call him Tommy." Jennifer explained.

"Nice to meet you Tommy." He just got shy and put his leg into Jennifer's leg.

She picked him up and kept leading me toward.

"Next is Jack, He's probably the same age as you. He took me and Tommy in when he found us in the Catholic orphanage we where hiding in. He's practically our dad. But we see him as an older brother."

She stopped at a bedroom door and knocked. A voice said we could come in and she eagerly opened the door.

"Jack! Look!" Jennifer exclaimed and pointed at me.

Jack was amazingly handsome. He had blond hair and focused green eyes, He had his hair cut short in a kinda long buzz cut. He was surely 6'2 feet tall and all muscle. And a Koidran. Koidran's are in the weapondry area of the UN-humans.

He was working on a gun barrel when we barged in. He stood up to great us and put the gun on the bed.

For a while there he just stood there examining me.

"So you're an Enigma?"

"Yes."

"Nive to meet you, I am Jack."

"… Sara." I replied.
