The “Nothing” in her Closet
By Hsiao Wei Chen
Every night, before the little girl went to bed, she always makes sure that the closet door is closed.
The little girl is not afraid of the monsters that might come out of the closet, because she knows that monsters don’t exist. Instead, she is afraid of the "Nothing" in her closet that might come out to get her.
She does not know what the "Nothing" is. Or if it has shape or color. Or if it is big or small. That's the thing; she knows nothing about the "Nothing" in her closet. And that’s why she is afraid of it.
