Escape

The door's running away from me
where it got its legs, sure beats me
there's no way for escape
there's no telling
where it ends.

You know you're too far gone
when you look in the mirror at the break of dawn
and the face you see isn't yours
but the face of who you love.

There is no way I'd escape anyway
It's hard to abandon something you need each day
when you'd rather bite off your tongue
then take a step in doing something wrong.

You know you've already fallen
when loving someone is your calling
when you'd live a life of silence
just to keep it all from dying.

And the words just come to a dead stop
when they call you, everything you had you'd drop
and run to their very side
just to make sure they don't cry.

No such thing as escape.
