Cannot Be Alone
I grew up in a world where
Milk and honey seemed like dreams.
And all the times I wished for heaven,
Nothing ever came to me.
It's a wonder how I live and breath,
And make it day to day.
If it hadn't been for second chances,
I don't think I'd live today.
And all these wheels keep goin' 'round,
And I ask the man to slow them down.
But he's got a big agenda,
And his plans are set in stone.
I know I've not a soul to love,
But I cannot be alone.
So I just hang on to the image
I've created in my head.
A pleasant thought of bein' alive,
So I know that I'm not dead.
And it's plain to see I'm losing,
But my future's set in stone.
For it's true I've not a soul to love,
But I cannot be alone...
I've never found the sacrifice
To answer to the prayer.
And all the times I wished for strength,
Nobody seemed to care.
It's a simple thing, I live and breath,
And make it day to day.
I can't tolerate this madness,
But I can't wish it away.
And all these wheels keep goin' 'round,
And I ask the man to slow them down.
But he's got a big agenda,
And his plans are set in stone.
I know I've not a soul to love,
But I cannot be alone.
So I just hang on to the image
I've created in my head.
A pleasant thought of bein' alive,
So I know that I'm not dead.
And it's plain to see I'm losing,
But my future's set in stone.
For it's true I've not a soul to love,
But I cannot be alone...
Oh, Lord, I hear you callin' my name.
Is it true we're one and the same?
I don't know how to make it through
One more day...
But the least I can do is live it,
Because it all just goes away.
And oh,
I know there's something better,
And it must be set it stone.
For although I've not a soul to love...
Yes, it's true I've not a soul to love...
But although I've not a soul to love,
I cannot be alone.
No, I know I'm not alone...
