TNT exploded, and to a frustrated Coyote, his plan had once again failed. Roadrunner sped past, as usual. Coyote stood and thought. He had an idea! His new plan was to drop a large rock onto Roadrunner. Of course, the rock fell too late, and as Coyote stood where it should have landed, to see why it hadn't, it fell on him.
An uncontrollable giggle sounded. The same storyline never seemed to get old to Danny, or most likely any six year old child. Danny spent most days after school watching cartoons with Allison.
The room in which they both sat was a rather small one. And very basic. There was a small kitchen area, a sofa and a TV. In the corner there was also a small table, but this was covered with clothes, magazines, pizza boxes and any other items that had lazily been put down here rather than going to where they should have been. On one wall there were two doors, one leading to a bedroom and one leading to a small bathroom, and on another wall was a third door, that lead to a second bedroom. This second bedroom was once a kitchen area, but the kitchen was now in the corner of the living room, where Allison and Danny were, opposite the front door, which was on another wall. On the final wall was one window.
As the afternoon sun hit in through the window and shone onto the screen, Allison got up to draw the curtains, and as doing so, she looked out onto the car park. A woman with raven black hair, tied back into a bun, and wearing a red t-shirt, with the word MAKRO sewn onto it, walked up to the building. She was holding a bag of food shopping which she put down to get her key from her bag, and she then opened the door.
"Looks like mummy's finally here, quickly, tidy up a bit” Allison said, encouragingly, and also putting some of Danny's things away and straightening the cushions on the sofa, but for some peculiar reason, leaving the junk on the small corner table alone.
"mmmuuuummmmyyyyy” screeched an excited Danny, hugging his obviously very much loved mother.
"Ouch” she sounded, involuntarily, "my ears”, she said, referring to Danny's yelp for her, and then when he hugged her, a split second later, "and stomach, okay, enough”, the woman put down her shopping bag onto the kitchen counter, across from the door she had just entered through, and picked up her boy, kissing him on the cheek. "Did you and Allison have fun today?”. Danny grinned, and then nodded franticly.
His mother put Danny down, and then placed her hand on her back, trying to re-align her spine to what it was before she picked up her son.
"C'mon kiddo, why don't we watch some more TV whilst mummy unpacks her shopping” said Allison, encouragingly and enthusiasticly. Danny ran all of the few paces it was to the sofa and sat watching Coyote's failed attempts at catching his dinner.
"Laura, I've got no plans this evening, so if you need me to make dinner before you go out again, well, I'm able to do it” Allison said, offering her help.
"No, don't worry about it, Love, Derik's coming home earlier today, so I'll put it in the oven and he can take it out, you know how bad his cooking is” Laura, Danny's mother, smiled whilst busily emptying the contents of her shopping bag into the kitchen cupboards.
"OK, well I'll see you on Monday then” said Allison, smiling and turning to pick up her handbag from by the door.
"Have fun at the wedding, give your sister my congratulations, again” smiled Laura
"Will do, bye Danny-Bear” Allison waved at Danny, who growled, obviously doing a bear impression, then when Allison exited through the door, he continued to watch his cartoons.

Derik came home twenty minutes after Laura. Derik was tall and broad, at a first glance he looked very intimidating. He put down his bag by the door, where Allison picked hers up from, and walked through one of the doors leading into a bedroom, saying "hello” to Danny, who was still fascinated in the failing plans of Coyote, as he went.
"Evening, Sweetie”, He called, walking over to Laura, who was fixing her hair at a dressing table, and kissing her on her cheek.
"Evening” Laura said smiling, "good day?”
"Not too bad, Steve's away next week, so I might be working a bit later next week, but that depends if Tony will help out or not”
"Steve's away again?” Said Laura, with a tone of annoyance
"Yeah, well Tara's terminally ill, you can't be too hard on him, need any help?” He said casually, whilst taking off his jacket and putting it on their bed.
"yes, can you get my gold necklace from the cupboard” Laura asked, whilst putting her brush down and getting make-up from the drawer. Derik walked around the bed and opened on of the doors, and then opened a drawer, and pulled out a silver chain, with a deep blue coloured stone attached. Derik walked across the room, over to Laura. He put the chain on her neck, pulled back her hair and fastened it.
"This isn't the gold one” She said, indirectly asking why Derik had given her the silver one.
"I know, but this one makes your eyes stand out. Beautiful and enchanting royal blue” He said, kissing her again. Laura let out a soft moan.
"I'm really lucky to have you” She said smiling. Laura turned to face Derik and kissed him.
"Yes you are” Derik said, cheekily.

Laura left, for another shift of work, and Derik took Danny's tea out of the oven, and put it on to a plate for him.
"Dinner” he called. Danny was still sat watching his cartoons. "Dinner!” Derik said, louder and more firmly. Danny, remembering that Derik was far more strict that his other, quickly turned off the TV and sat down to where his dinner was placed, avoiding Derik's glare. Danny quickly shovelled his food his, almost choking on several occasions.
"Can I have some water, please” Danny asked, in a very quiet voice.
"Cup's in the cupboard, water's in the tap” Derik said, not looking up from his TV programme.
"I can't reach the cupboard” Danny said, again, very quietly.
"Then get a chair” Derik said slowly, and in an insulting tone. Danny got up from his chair, and moved it across to one of the cupboards on the wall. He pulled himself onto the chair, and slowly stood up. He opened the cupboard, but had moved his chair so that it was right in front of the cupboard door, meaning that it was difficult for Danny to open it.

Danny leaned back so that the door could open without hitting his head. Danny leaned back some more, but slipped. Danny held onto the cupboard door handle as his body weight pulled him down as the chair fell sideways onto the floor. Danny's palm's sweated, and he lost grip after a few seconds. He let go and his head hit the kitchen counter opposite, and then he fell to the floor, screaming.
"Are you a complete idiot!?” was all Derik said, and then "get up!”. Danny ignored Derik and continued to howl in pain. "Shut up” Derik yelled at the boy. A few moments went by, where Danny laid on the kitchen floor, crying out in pain, and Derik's temper was cut short. He pulled Danny up from the kitchen floor by one of his arms, dragged him across the living room and into his room. Derik hit him around the head, hard. Danny let out a yelp. Derik lifted him and threw Danny onto his bed, lifted up Danny's lamp, which was the nearest item to where Derik was standing, and threw it at Danny's back. "Shut up!” Derik slammed Danny's door as he exited, and continued to watch TV.

Danny Howled in pain and cried for his mother until he finally fell asleep.
