Forgiveness

Forgiveness

-

Would you come and help me lift the sky

From falling down on me

Like a piano

-

Would you lend me an umbrella

When the darkest cloud follows me

Everywhere I go

-

Would you give me peace of mind

When it feels like a conspiracy against me

It’s absolutely absurd I know

-

Could you come round for a drink

I need someone to tell me what to think

I’m done doing this alone

I’m not as fully grown as I thought

But forgiveness can’t bought or begged

It has to be earned

-

Would you give me a hand my hand is hurt

From all the praying I’ve been doing

I’m stuck on my knees but please don’t go

-

Would you bend your ear for me

And listen to my confessions

To grant me absolution

-

Would you give me a chance

To make amends

For all the offences I committed

-

Could you come round for a drink

I need someone to tell me what to think

I’m done doing this alone

I’m not as fully grown as I thought

But forgiveness can’t bought or begged

It has to be earned
