A/n- Short and sweet... maybe not so sweet.
Amazement
“It’s twelve o’clock,” he said matter-of-factly, staring out the yellowing window.
“Midnight,” she agreed, her fingers twisting the napkin she held. His eyes flashed to her for the briefest of moments before looking away again, a blank expression upon his face.
Blank, she thought, but he was thinking…
He was inhuman, too beautiful. The diner around them looked dank and dull and especially decayed in his presence.
Now she was sorry she had ever brought him.
She let out a small breath.
“What do you want then?” His voice was sharp, his tone short.
Looking up, she saw he still faced the window. Instead of answering him, she leaned forward, hands upon the Formica table, her fingers wide.
He was getting impatient, she knew that, and that was bad.
The napkin in her lap was frayed and ruined.
She couldn’t see what he was looking at. She didn’t know if he could see anything t all. Wasn’t there a brick wall facing this side of the building?
“I don’t know.”
His reply was swift, harsh, “what?”
He dropped the hand that his chin had been resting upon.
She took a deep breath.
“I don’t know what I want.”
Slowly, as if her words had unfrozen him, he turned to look at her, amazement on his face.
A/n- yes, he's not human.
