This plots been stuck in my head for forever. First chapters really short.
When one is frustrated, it usually leads to pointing fingers and complaining quite a bit. And as Stacy Parker stood in the middle of the empty street, staring back and forth down either sides of the road, she was most certainly frustrated.
The air was eerily quiet. The neighborhood was utterly peaceful. Needless to say, Stacy was distrubed. Ms. Parker, however, was estactic.
"Isnt this wonderful?" Her mother exclaimed, closing the car door in the driveway, a box of her favorite China in her arms. Her daughter sighed loudly before puffing out her cheeks in a stubborn manner. Ms. Parker took it as a typical no from the teenager. It was obvious Stacy was not at all happy, but the mother was going to stand her ground. Yes, making her little girl move half-way across the country to a town with no more than three thousand people on sudden notice was not the nicest thing. Especially since Stacy had been living in places with populations well over two-hundred thousand her whole life.
But Michelle Parker knew her daughter was strong. This was only a small pout session the girl did every time they moved. It was nothing the mother could not handle, though it seemed a bit different at the moment. Maybe the move was too far too soon this time? Ms. Parker shook her head, making her way to the front door to leave her daughter to explore like she always did.
Stacy, however, did not move from her spot in the middle of the street. She stood, arms folded over her chest, a frown etched onto her face.
"WHERE ARE ALL THE PEOPLE?!" She finally cried, flailing her arms.
It was not until ten minutes later when Michelle heard her daughter slam the front door, tossing her black hoodie on the floor. "Im gonna find my room now," She announced, clomping her way up the stairs.
"Master bedroom is mine!" Ms. Parker shouted back nonchantly, polishing a fancy plate.
"Aw, you're no fun!" Stacy's voice booed back.
Upstairs, she strolled down the left hallway, peeking into a bathroom and a study before stopping infront of a decent sized room. Checking back down the opposite hall to see only one door that lead to the master bed, she decided this would be her room.
It was small but cozy. Four standard off-white walls, a big window to the right, another across from the door and a closet on the same side. The lamp and fan above seemed quite old, but dust off the dirt and it'd be good as new.
"Definitley not California..." She muttered, turning back to head down stairs.
"Hey, ma- Where's a moving truck?" Stacy questioned, entering the kitchen.
"They'll be here soon," Ms. Parker told her, hanging up her cellphone, "They got lost in traffic on the way from the airport."
"Am I gonna be able to sleep on a bed tonight or should I toss my pillow in the back seat?"
Michelle laughed, "Dont worry, honey- They'll be here soon. And when they do you better rest up for tomorrow. It's your first day of High School! My little freshman," She cooed, embracing her daughter in a bear hug.
"I find that strangely conincidental..." Stacy muttered, embaressingly trying to pull away.
"Better a day early than a day late, right?"
"Yeah, cuz god forbid I miss meeting everyone there!" The girl rolled her eyes, "Come on, mom. We're in Seeder Springs, Ohio. There's one High School, three resturants and our street only has nine houses on it! You want me to die of absolute boredom, dont you?" Stacy's mother was about to sit down for her daughter's long complaint speech before the girl uttered a quiet, "And I just started making friends back in Cali..."
Her face saddened as Stacy began hugging back, clearly upset.
"Oh sweetie," She sighed, brushing a hand through her dark brown hair, "I know I promised no more moves, but you what would happen when I became a doctor. And right now they want me to work the Veterans Hospital here in this county."
"Ch'a, an hour away from here."
"Cheapest house I could get for now." She went on, "Give it some time. Im sure Seeder Springs'll grow on you."
