Fever

My body’s aching

My head just pounds

And all around me

I hear distorted sounds

What is this horrid illness?

That makes me feel like death

Hurting my throat

With every little breath

I just feel so exhausted

I don’t even feel like me

My precious energy’s running out

Each movement is costly

My eyesight’s all impaired

My vision is quite blurry

And I’m screaming at the medicine inside

“Please fix me up! And hurry!”

Now I don’t think I’ll survive

I see a dark tunnel looming

Am I really going to die?

But this feeling’s kind of soothing

Suddenly the medicine kicks in

And I’m jerked out of my daze

“Is the magic really working?”

My mind thinks in a haze

Hope lights up inside me

Happy is what I feel

And in the back of my mind I’m wondering

“Is this really real?”

And now as I sit here writing

I can’t believe I’m better and through

So tell me if you have a fever, okay?

Cause I know the medicine will for you, too!
