And It Was True Then Too

-

My heart resides in a field far too the north

Where the soldiers lay

And I myself have laid there too

It’s where I found my serenity

No sounds of guns of cars

The city can be an awful mess

For one like me

-

Love can be found in the strangest places

It can be staring you right in the face

And you would never know

It can hide all day in a foreign land

Or it can grab you by the hand in the underground

It can even find you on your death bed and steal your breath away

-

I’ve known men and women alike

Who have no clue

What to do or say

When love comes to seize the day

But they just lay in a daze

It would be just my luck

That love only comes to the ones

Who don’t wait to be struck by it

-

Love can be a tricky bitch to tame

It can soak you to the bone like the summer rain

And it has always been that way

A wise man once told me not to reach out for perfection

As there’s no such thing as such a thing

Just let your heart do the singing and affection will come if you wait long enough
