Long ago in ancient times when sun and moon fought the god Tsukiyomi had a son with Izanmi the Goddess of Creation. In that time Inzangi had no knowledge that his wife was with child from the deity whom came from his right eye.

Soon with the passing seasons Izanmi bore a son the babe was beautiful with golden orbs that shined like the sun goddess. Although, he appeared to look like one of them he was anything but what he seemed to be for the son of Tsukiyomi possessed wolf blood coursing through his veins.

As he grew, he became more like his wolfen self, sprouting demonic wings from his back his silver hair shone like the moon. They deemed him the name Oketsu meaning “Impure Blood” for he was not pure like the rest of his sires. Not long after Oketsu’s birth did Inzangai find out about the affair between the two Gods.

Therefore he casted the dark god out of Tengoku, leaving Oketsu no place left to go but Jigoku however he was not looking forward to the trip. There, he lived and thrived in Jigoku his heart becoming black growing ugly with hate each passing day. He couldn’t understand why his father didn’t protect him.

Yet, even down in hell he could hear his father cursing his existence. For this reason alone, Oketsu grew cold his heart hardening. He felt shameful, having no one left to turn to. His relatives despised him especially his Aunt Amaterasu only because of his father’s hand. Having no other choice, he passed through all Nine Gates of Hell only with the favor of the Gods.

Oketsu descended to hell, serving the Goddess Shi. Once he destroyed an entire village ruthlessly he ate through the villagers carrying the lost souls back down to Jigoku. There Shi praised him boring him a studied collar that he wore proudly. Oketsu was then, one day summoned to the Death Goddess he bowed in respect to the only family he had before he looked to her, receiving instructions.

Then she spoke: “Oketsu, you have served me well in the time you have been here. Yet, even I, though immortal cannot live without power.” At this dreadful news, Oketsu grew sorrowful and speechless, for the first time in his entire life he had no idea what to say. The only family he ever could call family, was dying?

He was angered by the fact, knowing that she couldn’t necessarily die. Yet, she could grow weak and Jigoku would be in total chaos without order. Sighing doubtfully he looked back to her, waiting for more information.

Shi noticed his eager look and smiled somewhat, he was an excellent servant to her better than most of her other demons. She wondered when he first came to her if he were to be loyal; most demons are ruthless, caring for nothing but power. Yet, not saying that he was not one of these. He was ruthless almost as much as she. Hungry for power was an understatement, he was craving it. She expected it was the only reason for him being alive.

“What must I do, Mistress?” Oketsu asked her head bowed as he could not bare to look at her, he seemed unworthy that he could not stop this from happening. Yet, he knew that it wasn’t his fault it still felt like it was. He wanted to be in her favor, if she were dying how could this be?

“Take this” Shi smiled down at him, she handed him a faded piece of cloth. Inscribed onto it words were written in dark red ink, he looked up at her dumbfounded. He looked down at the words formed onto the cloth, only in simple kanji. “What…is it?” he asked blinking.

“Instructions, you will need to go to Inari Hospital back on Earth. There are the lists of subjects you will need to bring back to me” Shi stated with a pleased look, she spoke of the humans as if they were useless lab rats, and Oketsu couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for them.

Her crimson eyes narrowed slightly at the small grief stricken look. “Do you understand, Oketsu?” She asked. Snapping out of his daze the dark lord nodded to her. “Of course, Mistress I won’t let you down.” Shi nodded to him, holding her hand up to him Oketsu looked at her only seeing a golden flute within her grasp.

“This is a magic flute, once you descend to Earth, and only after you have killed the victims, capture their souls, then, and only then do you play this flute. I will know that you have captured the souls, and I will take them from you.” She said Oketsu nodded taking the flute with a gentle touch with that, he walked out of her chamber preparing for the long trip back to the one place he had sworn to never return to.

“You’re not actually going to go through with this?” A dark haired demon asked, shocked by the decision of the wolf god. “Of course I am; Shi is the only family I have so I must follow her orders." Oketsu glared at Zangetsu forcing himself to stay calm. “You are foolish to follow such orders from such a weak being.” Zangetsu grunted with a scowl.

“If I am such a fool, then how come you are the one staying behind?”

“It is because, Oketsu, you are the weakling even your own father wouldn’t accept you Shi only feels sorry for you so she sends you out onto a mission.”

Oketsu barred his fangs at the lower god, before with his free hand opened a portal. The fire spat at the two of them, growling a challenge as neither man moved. Smirking over his shoulder Oketsu leaped into the burning flames leaving Zangetsu stunned.

With a hiss Oketsu reached the Earth Realm, the burning sun shocked him for a bit. His golden eyes adjusting to the rays of the bright daylight, he looked around blinking for a bit as he was not used to this Realm. Taking out the cloth Shi gave him he silently cursed Zangetsu before he looked down.

The kanji read in the basic Japanese fashion, some words were faded so he had to use his hand to make it a bit clearer. A purple glow emitted from his palm making the words glow brightly he skimmed it over. The kanji for death popped up a lot, yet what should he expect from the ruler of Hell?

Sighing, he picked his way towards his destination. “Inari, Inari…” he let the words roll off his tongue as he searched for the said hospital. Clicking his tongue in satisfaction as he found it, he walked into the revolving doors eyeing the surroundings suspiciously.

“May I help you?”

Oketsu whipped his head around to face a plump looking women, she wore a white uniform with squeaky white flats. It made him think of purity like a white angel. Or a cherub by the way she appeared.

Replying to the question with a mute answer, he handed her the piece of cloth which she looked at it oddly. He blinked at her look yet said nothing of it, he wondered weather or not if she could read hagaren.

Oketsu soon found out the answer to his silent question as the nurse pointed to a corridor of rooms. Sighing, he took back the piece of cloth and walked over to the rooms. His eyes scanned over the numbers quickly, searching for the right numbers for his latest victims.

Finding what he was looking for almost immediately, Oketsu took the life of his victims one by one. Leaving nothing to the imagination he was surprised when no one turned up to help the patients once they screamed.

Coming upon the last door of his victims Oketsu walked in, seeing a child sitting on a window sill. He raised an eyebrow at her sorrowful look, nearly frowning as her black hair whirled around her like sad little wings. “Are you here to take me away?” She didn’t even turn around to look at him.

He didn’t have to answer her; he didn’t know why he answered. Yet he did, almost as if he had no control over his actions. “Yes,” he sounded as if he was in a rush, and he had no intention of knowing anything about her. He didn’t want to know, killing her off now without knowing anything was easier. He wouldn’t have to feel any emotion.

She turned to him grey eyes curious, Oketsu turned from her not wanting to look at her. “I’m Irina,” she said voice unusually brave as she looked at him. She looked back to the window, seeing the sinking sun as the horizon devoured it.

“I’ve been here for nearly a year, and my condition has gotten worse. I’m not sure the name of my illness just that I’m numb all over. I can’t feel a thing.” Irina said nearly smiling almost as if the fact was funny. Oketsu wondered if he had a choice or not to kill her, if she couldn’t feel anything was a good thing, but it made it a bit worse to think about.

He then remembered the flute taking it out he looked at it. Sighing he glanced at Irina then he played a sweet tune. At the sound of the music, Irina looked at him face very pale almost as if she knew the death song.

Smirking slightly Oketsu peered at her with half lidded eyes, and he wondered if he could keep her for his own? Souls were very powerful to a god, or so he’s heard. With that kind of power he could become a great god, he could over take Shi, and then defeat his father.

Sighing he finished the song looking back at her he nodded, and then she dropped to the floor motionless, and cold. Like she was made out of stone it hurt him slightly, for some unknown reason. Suddenly, he didn’t feel like playing undertaker anymore.

“You’ve done well, Oketsu.” Shi said clapping mockingly at her servant’s dismay. Oketsu bowed to her as he’s always done. “Yes Mistress, thank you.” He said glancing up at her with a slight glare of hate; he now realized that she was healthier looking and she seemed a bit too powerful. He knew that this was the work of the souls, and he wanted them. All for him as selfish as it seemed he would over throw Shi.

“Give me the flute.” This time, Shi’s voice was a deadly command. Oketsu clutched at the flute as if it were a precious treasure he must protect with his life. Shi chuckled with bitter amusement at his little game. “Oh, Oketsu you don’t want to do this.” She shook her head as she glared at him.

Yet, even still he held onto the flute fangs barred in a deadly motion. “I want these bleeders; these souls are mine to keep!” He growled. He had hunted for them, they should rightfully be his. “Oh, you are foolish! I should have killed you when I had the chance.” She hissed.

Oketsu shrugged almost as if bored with this little game, he opened both of his palms a dark violet glow emitted from them, starting out dimly then it grew brighter. Soon it was glowing very brightly, a ball of dark energy. He thrusted the dark ball towards Shi she screamed out in pain as it connected to her flesh, burning she gasped. Souls flew from her screaming in pain like banshees.

Growling from the constant noise Oketsu’s mouth flew to the flute playing the song over to calm the screaming souls. They came to him silently surrounding him for the music. They bowed to him for a moment, and then they circled him like vultures fangs dripping with blood as they laughed a wicked rhythm.

“Master, Master” They chanted in cruel voices then a howl struck up among them, Oketsu glared as the figure approached only appearing to be his father. At the sight of him, Oketsu’s heart banged painfully. He couldn’t say that he hated his father it would be impossible to do so, yet he did feel unimaginable anger towards him. “Father…” he nodded resisting the urge to growl.

Tsukiyomi smiled at his son, “You have proved yourself well, my son” he stated with a nod. Oketsu looked up at the moon god, fangs barred as he growled glaring deadly. “Proved myself? What’s that suppose to mean?” He blinked. At this Tsukiyomi laughed, causing Oketsu to raise an eyebrow was this a joke?

“It means, my son, that you are ready to rule the sky with me”

Oketsu scoffed turning his head away in disgust. “I wish not to rule anything along side you, you are not my father nor shall you ever be!” He hissed with a growl. How could this be happening? Tsukiyomi sighed, “Then what must you wish to do?” He asked. Oketsu looked to him, blinking confused why did his father even care?

Almost mockingly Tsukiyomi did the same as his son, mimicking his son’s every move. At the sight of the action Oketsu growled snorting at his father’s direction. “I see you enjoy tormenting and killing?” It was neither a question nor a statement, just an observation the moon god noticed. His son made no movement to prove his father’s words.

“Seeing as the former ruler of Jigoku is dead, you can rule Hell, it seems that you like killing, you can be the new undertaker” Tsukiyomi spoke with a smile, Oketsu’s back was turned to him sulking.

“Ah, I take it you’ll find this job to your liking” With that, Tsukiyomi disappeared. Suddenly, a dark glow surrounded Oketsu and his clothing changed into blood red robes. A staff was held in his left hand the top decorated with a snake head, a crystal orb centered in its mouth.

It took awhile for the fact to sink in, he was now the ruler of the underworld, and not only that he the soul guider as well. What a responsibility to take. He wondered if he would be up to the challenge. He laughed barring pointed fangs as the souls gathered around him; they dissolved into his staff crystal.

He then descended to hell, taking all of the collected souls with him. They say that in the dead of the night, if you’re real quite. You will still be able to hear the faint screams of his previous mistress, and his laugh as he accepted the throne of Jigoku.

This is a short myth story I did for school, it took me awhile to get it just right though I'm still not quite pleased with it. Some of the characters in this are not mine, they relate to the Japanese Gods/Goddess. So credit goes to them. Please tell me what you think, I won't be countining with this as it is a one-shot. It sounds a bit cliche though, doesn't it?

I just wanted to post something, My boyfriend the werewolf story will be countined it's just on hatius as of now.
