Blood spread across her face, arms, and chest

Leaving gaps of flesh

Just like a spider web.

The night was blacker than charcoal,

But the dimness was the only light

That he needed.

He needed her

(Or so he thought)

He needed her wisdom,

He needed her strength.

She wrestled his ideas to the ground—

Made him act a fool

So she died a fool.

Her body is fading now,

Whiter than snow,

More washed out than bleach.

And she lies asleep

As he lies awake.

What has he done?
