Flesh and Blood (Part 1?)
Once before, upon a time
At the dawn of the newest year,
One times two times double that
New time, new age, new faces
Same hearts, same humanity,
Forgotten morality.
Look back, lines crossed; tied laces -
Crying out to hear no call,
Screaming to scream though no scream will fall
Penetrate the deepest wounds
Inside of me, which fear consumes:
Sin's longing whimper echoes
In the shadows of the night,
In the rays of daylight.
Never gone, not quite faded
Like a tattoo,
Like flesh, like hope.
Won't be jaded,
Life's not to rue -
Blood undermines all ability to cope.
True, no more lies;
Unwritten, forgotten ties.
Believe in me as belief will not,
Find not in me what you once sought.
When trivialities mattered,
When thought's given to rhyme
Freedom is skewed,
Chimes of admittance cluttered,
Imediments clustered,
Men forgetting, women lewd.
Lost and ignorant,
Not fighting; unaware:
Manipulated, controlled...
By no one, no longer.
A leader broken is a leader born, then reborn;
A soldier's faith is another's despair, then scorned -
Live like life will be gone...
Gone, like good moments,
old times, new directions,
different similarities,
while opportunities abound:
Equal as equal in balance that's not.
Can only move forward from here -
Here on out, only on;
Left behind, remorse due; never given,
Compensation offered, void of honesty -
Deception, lies, courtesy to -
The whimpers, the glory,
The passion, the fury
illuminated in utter brilliance,
Chased away by ghosts remaining of our morality.
