Three Times Insanity
Chapter 1: Beginning of Insanity
I think I just crossed the line between being sane and insane. Standing in front of me were two equally hot guys who were different in many ways but both wanted me to make the same decision. They both wanted a final answer; for me to choose the vampire or the werewolf. I didn’t want to have to choose and I didn’t want to be fought over. Now you know why I’m becoming insane.
I should start at the beginning, three months before this all happened when I was just a normal teenager. All my life I lived in Maryland with only my grandma in a rink-a-dink town called Sutterland. My grandma told me that when I was a baby my parents died in a car crash and my grandpa died long before I was born so my grandma was all I ever had. She tried her best to raise me right and I have to say she did a good job. That’s not to say I’ve never been a bad girl but I was a pretty good kid.
Proof of that was a perfect permanent record except for the time I punched Danny Miller in the face, but that was in second grade and I got to because he called me a stupid girl. No way was he getting away with insulting me. The experience was actually pretty fun especially when my best friend Katie Swarseck yelled after I punched him to “go kick Danny’s sissy butt.” Katie and I had been best friends since preschool and through thick and thin we’ve always been there for each other. Katie had the prettiest bright blue eyes and long, curly blonde hair.
She had a small nose and thin frame but she had a lot of spunk and was my partner in crime as you would say. Personality wise we were almost the same except she was nicer than me, and I had more of a mouth. But appearance wise were complete opposites. Instead of blue eyes and blonde hair I had mysterious green eyes, and shoulder length, straight, black hair. My nose was slightly bigger than Katie’s but we pretty much had the same frame with me only having a little more meat on my bones.
The two of us currently attend the local highschool Mcferran High and are both sixteen years old. Our town is so small that we only have one highschool, middle school, elementary school, and preschool so you grow up with the same people all your life unless they move away or someone moves to Sutterland. The sad thing is Katie and I could name all three hundred and fifteen people in our grade, and probably know most of the people in the grade above us. In the actual town of Sutterland though there was still a lot of people I didn’t know, but I knew all the shop owners in our downtown, and most of the police officers(don’t ask). Life though in Sutterland was good.
I had an amazing best friend, and a wonderful grandma, a nice house, and was going to a good school even if sometimes it got boring. Even though Sutterland was small I managed to get a job at Elrod’s, the local music store and that’s where I was exactly three months ago on the day my life changed forever. Of course I didn’t know meeting them would change my life forever but I’d find out soon enough. It was a Saturday and my shift at Elrod’s started at ten o’clock, only giving me fifteen minutes to dress, grab a muffin to eat on the go, and walk as fast as I could to Elrod’s. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by a fellow employee Sheri.
“Hey Sabrina,” Sheri said with one of her bright smiles on her face. Sheri was a friend of mine that also attended Mcferran High with me and Katie. Her hair was brown and wavy, light freckles on her face and warm brown eyes. She was a senior at Mcferran but was shorter than my 5'7 stature by three inches and as you can guess she always had a smile on her face.
“Hey Sheri,” I replied back as I went into the back to change out my graphic tee and into the store shirt. I was already wearing jeans so after changing I headed back into the front with Sheri.
“You look tired,” remarked Sheri.
“Alarm clock didn’t go off,” I muttered back, taking a bite out of my blueberry muffin. Sheri laughed.
“It’s ok at least you’re here. Sunny was supposed to be here an hour ago but still hasn’t shown up.” I snorted. That wasn’t really a surprise considering that Sunny was always late for work. It amazed me he still even had a job but the manager was his uncle so I guess he was able to get away with it. Sunny was a freshman at the University right outside of town and had a little thing for Sheri, but of course she was totally oblivious to the fact that he liked her. Even though he could basically have any girl he wanted with his good looks he liked Sheri and I found it adorable.
“Yeah well Sunny will show up when he shows up I guess,” I said with a shrug. Sheri just nodded dismissively. Business was slow at Elrod’s but our busiest time for some reason was three o’clock. At Elrod’s we sold all kinds of music equipment AND CD’s and we always had the best music playing in the store. There was in all four employees including me and our manager Elrod himself who you already know is Sunny’s uncle. I loved working there and I got with everyone.
After about an hour of being on my shift Sunny finally showed up. His usually ruffled blonde hair was wet, probably from taking a shower, and his sapphire blue eyes were groggy. He held a coffee cup in his hand.
“So nice of you to finally show up,” I said with a smirk. He just grunted, taking a sip out of the coffee cup and went into the back to change. Sheri and me laughed and the next couple of hours were pretty slow until the first of my troubles walked into the store. When I saw him I could of swore my heart stopped. He was tall, about 6'2 with the most beautiful grey eyes and slightly spiked brown hair, and was also very well built. Something about his appearance seemed a little wolf like to me but nonetheless he was the handsomest guy I had ever seen.
His eyes connected with mine, and for some reason I saw a tinge of surprise in them, as if he was as astonished to see me as I was to see him. But the surprise quickly disappeared to be replaced with a wolfish grin as he approached the counter. I was the only one around since Sheri was in the back and Sunny was helping out another customer.
“Hi! Welcome to Elrod’s. What can I help you with today?” I said with one of my brightest smiles. His grin grew.
“Hi I was wondering if you had the latest Evanescence CD?” he said in a husky voice that made my stomach tingle with butterflies.
“Um I can go check,” I said coming out from behind the counter and going over to the rows of CD’s. He followed me as I searched the isles for the CD until I finally found it.
“Is that it?” I asked pointing to the first shown CD in the section that said “Evanescence.”
“Ah yes that’s the one,” he said grabbing the CD off the shelf.
“Great! Is there anything else you need today?” I said while going back behind the counter and ringing up the CD.
“Well I would also like to talk to you,” he said as he gave me a twenty to pay for the CD.
“We are talking,” I said with a grin as I put his money in the register and counted up his change.
“That’s true but I mean small talk.”
“Small talk?”
“Yes like, what’s your name?” he asked me. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Sabrina Loddix.”
“Ian Farris,” he said shaking my hand. I laughed.
“You’re new in town aren’t you?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“I am actually. My family just moved here two days ago.”
“Oh? What street do you live on?”
“Tawny Street.” That was tow blocks away from my house.
“How old are you?” Ian asked me.
“Sixteen.”
“Hey me two so I guess I’ll be seeing you on Monday for my first day of school at Mcferran High.”
“I guess so,” I said even though I knew I sounded so stupid saying that. Ian just grinned.
“I’ll be looking for you to show me around on Monday,” he said, a warmth about him.
“Sure thing then,” I said grinning back at him.
“See you Monday.”
“Bye,” I said dreamily as I watched him exit the store. Sheri had been coming out of the back when he was leaving and when he was completely out of sight she turned to me.
“Who was that?”
“Ian Farris. His family moved into town two days ago and he’s going to be attending MH starting Monday.”
“Oh cool! He was cute wasn’t he?”
“Yeah,” I ended up saying with a smile.
“So are you going to ask him out?” At that I had to blink owlishly at her.
“What?”
“Well you two seemed so into each other I thought he was going to ask you out or something.”
“We did?”
“Yeah. It was so apparent he was at least dazzled by you.”
“He was?” I said furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. Sheri nodded.
“We were just being nice to each other are you sure he had any feelings whatsoever?”
“I’m sure.” Even though she said that I still couldn’t believe her. I mean he was incredibly hot and good looking and I was just plain me who was nothing special to look at. Maybe my eyes were cool, but nothing else about me seemed attractive. For the rest of my time at Elrod’s I thought about him. If only I knew then that thinking about him or even being interested in him was going to lead me to a whirlwind of trouble I would of stopped thinking about him right then and there and wouldn’t of even bothered.

“So you say he’s starting at MH on Monday?”
“That’s right.” I was in my room talking to Katie on the phone while I sat on my queen size bed.
“You realize all the sluts are going to be after him.” I snorted.
“Probably.”
“You met him first, the other girls should flake off.” I cackled. Actually cackled. That wasn’t weird at all.
“Was that you?”
“Yeah but I don’t know why I did that.” I heard Katie laugh.
“Do you have work tomorrow?”
“No its my day off why?”
“Want to have a sleepover at my house tonight?” Me and Katie hadn’t had a sleepover in a long time.
“Uh sure I’ll have to ask my grandma but what’s the time right now?”
“Eight- thirty.”
“Okay then I’ll be at your house in half an hour.”
“Okay then see you soon.”
“Bye then.”
“Bye.” I clicked off the phone and getting off the bed I headed over to the closet. My room was painted blue and it was big enough for me with a desk across from my bed, and a dresser next to the desk. There was a closet next to the bed, and a window on the other side of the bed, a night stand in between the bed and window. From the closet I took out the usual sleepover clothes: a tank top and pajama pants. I also packed a pair of clothes to wear tomorrow and several other items stuffing them all into a bag.
Descending the stairs with my bag I made my way into the kitchen. My grandma was sitting at the table reading a magazine, a cup of tea next to her. Wendy Loddix was almost seventy years old, but looked like she was in her fifties. Her hair was gray, and supposedly I inherited my green eyes from her, but she was plumper than me. When she saw me with my bag and jacket on, and ready to go she raised an eyebrow.
“Where are you going?” she asked me in her voice that sounded like the granny in the old Loony Toons cartoons.
“To Katie’s house to sleepover if I can go?” I saw her thinking it over in her head when finally she sighed.
“Fine, you can go.”
“Really?”
“Yes, but call me tomorrow when you're going to come home.”
“Okay then.” I said taking a step towards the front door when she stopped me.
“Wait. Are you walking all the way to Katie’s house?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Katie’s almost all the way across town and its dark out. Why don’t you take your bike?”
“The bike? That’s locked in the garage though.”
“Then go unlock it. Don’t be lazy,” she said with a smile. I rolled my eyes but nonetheless entered our garage in search of my bike. It was against the wall chained up and after unlocking it I exited out the front door, and from there, the front yard. Hopping on the bike I took off in the direction of Katie’s house. It was nice and cool out as I sped down the streets on the bike. It was when I was going to cross the street, seeing no cars around I met my second trouble.
When I was almost half way across the street, a car came out of nowhere, and was speeding towards me. I heard someone yell “Look out!” and before I knew what was happening I was being pushed off the bike just as the car was about to hit me. Tumbling to the sidewalk I groaned. Looking around for my bike, I saw that it was in the street completely unharmed. I heard someone groan, and spun around to see a guy about my own age with dark brown, almost black hair, and dark eyes lying on the ground next to me.
Realizing he was the one who saved me I crouched down next to him and asked “Are you okay?" Turning towards me, he looked at me in surprise as my own breath caught. For the second time today I met an incredibly attractive guy. Up close I noticed his face was pale, flawless, and when he saw me he smiled.
“I should be asking you that question. If I wasn’t around you would have been ran over,” he said in a nice, smooth voice.
“Yes, thank you for that, but I’m fine and so is my bike. Are you?”
“I am,” he said, still smiling.
“I’m Sabrina. Sabrina Loddix.”
“Brian Valmont,” he said as I helped him to his feet. He looked about 6'1,six inches taller than my own height.
“Are you new in town?” I asked him. If he had gone to our school I would of known.
“I am.” I shook my head in disbelief. He was also new in town and around my own age.
“What?”
“Oh, nothing. Are you starting at Mcferran High on Monday?”
“Yeah. It’s the only high school in this whole town,” he said with a laugh. I smiled, but noticed his teeth, or at least canines were sharper than usual.
“Well thank you again for saving me, but I must be going now. I'm going over to a friend's house,” I said while going over to my bike, and getting back on it.
“Ah, well then I don’t want to hold you up any longer so I guess I’ll see you around?”
“Of course! I”ll see you on Monday,” I said, for some reason very giddy to know I was going to see him again.
“Well then, goodbye Sabrina.”
“Bye,” I said as I watched him walk down the street.
That day was definitely what you could call an interesting day and already I felt excited yet nervous for what awaited me on Monday.
