Rain

Rain

It’s raining, can you hear it?

The steady thrum on the roof

Lulling you to sleep

But at the same time driving you mad.

Do you think of me when it rains?

Do you remember dancing in the rain,

Carefree and soaked to the skin,

And how everything seemed wonderful then

I can’t help but think of you when it rains

Cleansing isn’t it?

Washing the waste away,

Soothing everything into a stupor.

But tonight it keeps me awake.

I find myself again thinking of you,

As I have increasingly the past few days.

The melody of our song drowns out the rain

“And I know you’re with me always, always…”

How does this song still have such power?

It also brings back memories.

The rain reminds me of tears,

Falling steadily.

How many times have you dried my tears?

How many times was it you I turned to?

Heavens know what possessed me to write this,

Heaven knows why I can’t let go

Why I can’t stop loving you

Can you hear the rain,

The poetry,

Flowing through our veins?

Can you feel it binding us together,

No matter what happens?

When you close your eyes,

Can you still feel my hands, my lips?

Amazing what memories can do,

How they run our lives…

How are there some things you can never forget

And how love lingers on and prevails.
