(English translation of a text I first wrote on my blog in french. There may be mistakes)
It’s easier to remain an enslaved child and be able to blame someone else for your sorrow than to be grown, free and responsible for your own happiness.
No men could exist without women. No women could exist without men.
Patriarchy is nor a person nor a conspiracy. It’s a way of thinking that both men and women created and kept in place.
We are responsible for what we do and what we say, not what others say or think about us so it’s better not to think about it and do what we see as fair, eat what we like and sleep with whom we please, for the reasons we find good just as one should abstain from those if she founds it to be the best thing to do.
Virtue, when its single objective is to please others, it the most ostentatious, the most useless of eye-poppers as well as the hardest set of handcuffs.
Weakness doesn’t make you feminine, admirable or virtuous, it just makes you weak.
Ignorance doesn’t make you attractive or feminine, it just makes you dumb.
Nothing is more feminine than child bearing and childbirth. Nothing demands more strength either.
Adversity and suffering are the essence of life for both men and women. We should face it like a bull in the arena, not like a lamb fears the slaughterhouse.
No damsel in distress needs to be saved by anyone. Abuse victims and victims of all sorts all have the key to their dungeon. All they have to do is find it and all we have to do is to help them to.
The difficulty or danger that doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.
It is just as bad to be asexual than to be a sex slave.
Trying to please someone and searching desire in the eyes of someone you like is an aspect of life and a right, not a white flag waved at an enemy, not a humiliation.
It’s better to be a living she-devil than a holy virgin statue.
Exposing the weakness of women, pity them and cry their “helplessness” does less for their cause than the most tasteless of sexist jokes.
You cant’ celebrate your feminity and see it as a curse all at once.
Fear never saved anyone. Wisdom and action did.
The heaviest burdens are self-imposed.
When something is wrong, don’t just sit there, cry and look miserable; do something about it.
The best and boldest feminist statement a woman can make is to believe in herself.
