|What do you tell
Author: Landcaster PM
After feeling extremely despairing and depressed I wrote this, once more finding hope. I may add the poems from my darker time later, but I decided to submit this hopeful one first. I'm the man of the poem. It's free verse. I hope that you enjoy it.Rated: Fiction K+ - English - Hurt/Comfort/Friendship - Words: 189 - Reviews: 1 - Favs: 1 - Published: 07-14-08 - Status: Complete - id: 2545364

What do you tell the man who has given up?
What do you say to his bitter smirk
And laughing cynical eyes?
What do you say to him?
What do you say to the man who has given up on love?
What do you tell a man who has given up on God?
What do you tell the man who condemns everything?
Condemns love as a lie?
Condemns life as death?
Humanity as inhuman?
What do you say when words are guilty of misunderstanding?
When they are devoid of any happy meaning,
But always tend towards night?
What can you possibly say?
I'll tell you: say nothing, and he will listen.
Nothing can comfort him for he shirks it all;
Nothing can heal him, for he finds its every fault.
Nothing can please him, for he is inconsolable,
Yet everything can hurt him.
So say nothing and save him the time he will waste.
Say nothing and save him the pain he will endure,
Say nothing, for that is all that he will find at the end.
Listen, for that is all he needs.
