A thought creeps in, “who could be there?”

I flip the switch, find just a glare

The moon gives me an empty stare,

I’m playing solitaire.

--

I breathe a sigh, life passes by,

No thoughts of who or where.

Before I sleep and close each eye,

I’m playing solitaire.

--

Solitaire’s a game of truth,

No risks, no jumps, no lures.

For every hand belongs to you;

You have power, feel secure.

--

But when I crawl to bed each night,

The joyful soundtrack ends.

For restless cold, it brings me fright;

I miss the warmth of friends.

--

A thought creeps in, “who could be there?”

I flip the switch, find just a glare

The moon gives me an empty stare,

I’m playing solitaire.
