Hold out your hand
I’m claiming what’s mine.
You tried real hard
To sneak it out of my chest
And slip it into your pocket
And think I wouldn’t miss it.
But after I went numb,
Felt no pulse within my soul,
I realized what I had tried so hard
To guard from your wiles and tugging
Had gone missing,
And I know where it’s hiding-
In your palm.
You played me like a fiddle,
Now I’m playing you like a drum.
That sound you hear is my heart beating,
It’s still alive.
You though you shattered it
And tried to tuck the pieces back together
With your Elmer’s glue,
But it was never really broken.
And when you tried to fix it,
That glue you used,
Those pretentious lies,
Made it slick
And it slipped right out of your grasp.
I though I had won.
I though I could walk away
And remain victorious!
But my victory cry was cut short
When you went behind my back
And showed me love;
Showed me all the things I thought I wanted,
Until finally
I saw past your deceitful brigade
Right through to you,
And saw within your palm
What belongs to me.
I want it back.
Hold out your hand,
I’m claiming what’s mine.
You’ve stolen my heart
For the very last time.
A/N: YAAY! I love this one. Tell me if you do, too! :) Thanks!
